1) Congress has to authorize a draft. Currently, there is no such authorization.

2) The draft extends to everyone in the authorization. So, as long as 1 is true and 2 includes you, you can be drafted.

3) After you are drafted, you need to report for several things. One of these things is a physical examination. If you are completely unfit for duty, you are discharged. If you have certain infirmities, your service may be limited to certain kinds of duty.

Maybe not on the first round but if things became more desperate they could draft anybody they wanted.

Eddie Slovik is good example...
excerpt from wikipedia
___
Slovik was born in Detroit, Michigan. As a youth, he was arrested several times; the first time, when he was twelve, occurred when he and some friends broke into a foundry to steal some brass. Between 1932 and 1937, he was caught for several incidents of petty theft, breaking and entering and disturbing the peace. In October 1937, he was sent to jail and paroled in September 1938. After stealing and crashing a car with two friends while drunk, he was sent back to jail in January 1939.

In April 1942, Slovik was paroled once more and obtained a job at the Montella Plumbing Company in Dearborn. There he met his wife Antoinette Wisniewski, whom he married on November 7, 1942. They went to live with her parents. Slovik's criminal record had led him to be classified as unfit for duty in the U.S. military ("4-F"), but, shortly after his and Antoinette's first wedding anniversary, Slovik was reclassified as fit for duty ("1-A") and subsequently drafted by the Army.

Note: Other posters pointed out that we do not have a draft. This is true. But the draft could be reinstated if the need arose.

Well we don't have a draft, but yes you can serve if you have flat feet. A lot of people do. Your feet would have to be really bad not to serve. Plus the doctors in the Military will be glad to fit you with arches.

If we reinstate the draft, you could get drafted with no feet, so learn to march on your hands.

My dad was rejected for that reason, but that was a LONG time ago! It could be different now. I don't think we will be doing any drafting anytime soon....
