My cousin lives in Washinton and her boyfriend tried to commit suicide one night by taking a whole bottle of tylenol PM and vodka before she could get through to the cops he walked out and she couldn't find him. Well the police found him in a chinese bathroom puking his guts out. They called her and told her they had him and was bringing him to the local hospital (they didn't call a abulance) that was Sunday. Ever sence she has been trying to FIND him. The hospital says they have NO RECORD of him ever being admitted or any hospital within 80 miles atleast. No psycwards have records of him. The police won't help her. Its like he disapered off the face of the earth. He has no family only her and she doesn't know what to do. I live in Wisconsin where things are handled differently. but what do you think....could they have just droped him off at the front door and he didn't go in? What would you do?

Number one the hospital.. particularly the psych ward will not confirm that he was ever even admitted, I know I work in a hospital. Secondly if the cops did pick him up they will have a report of it. Report him as a missing person.. explain that they supposedly picked him up and go from there... if there never was a police report filed then sounds like he may have been playing some elaborate hoax to disappear from her live.. people who have mental problems sometimes do these kinds of things... and the morgue is a good idea also.. if he was a DOA upon arrival they won't show him as being admitted.. check for John Doe's also... good luck and hope things work out!!!

No psych ward on the planet is going to tell you that he's there. Confidentiality laws.
Even if you KNOW they are there, if you call the staff at the hospital and ask for him, they won't admit his existence. You can call to the pay phones inside and ask another patient if they are there or not.
Otherwise, you'll just have to wait till he gets in contact with you. Likely he's on a 24 hour suicide watch still, and is undergoing treatment and is so drugged up he can barely move.
Now she can go to the psych clinics in person, and state that she's there to visit (insert name here) and if he's there, then they'll let her on in.
Just confidentiality stuff you are running into. The cops probably haven't even filed a report on it.

I think i would be going down to that police station and finding out who it was that supposedly took him to the hospital and ask if they took him in or dropped him of if they dropped off a person that was suicidal and he disappeared they should be held responsible because the person was not in there right mind at the time and he should have been escorted in to hospital not dropped out front. I believe if they did that and god forbid if hes dead somewhere that the police should be held accountable.I would also file a missing persons report.I hope every thing works out for your cousin and they find her boyfriend sfae and ok

It is a possiblity they just dropped him of at the front door or who know he could have talked himself out of even getting in there car and walked off. I hope he is ok, but it sounds like he need help from a therapist. do he have friends or co-workers that can tell her where he hang out at? this is a crazy situation becaue this guy is suicidal.

If you take the pill/alcohol mix he could be in a stupor and just wandered right out of the hospital. Report him missing or put up missing persons signs.

Tell her to contact the local newspaper. They have investigators that will assist in getting the police to loosen up their radio recordings.
On the more gruesome note -- did she check with the morgue?

tell your cousin to try calling the hospital and saying she is his sister. That may work if they just arent telling her any news because she isnt a blood relative. then if that still doesnt work she could always call the jail and see if he is in there. They will pretty much tell you unless he isnt there. if that doesnt work then i dont know what to tell you just ask a lawyer. consultations are free.
