If your talking about Oahu.. it depends on how well you surf and what time of year it is... if its Winter and your learning OR intermediate...I would not go to No. Shore..I would do the South. During the winter the locals get a little "upset" when the water gets full of beginners.
If its summer.. do the opposites.. the NO Shore.. for the most part is really flat..so you could learn.. if not a beginner ..go to the South shore. IF you need lessons, there are places on both No. and So. shores..Waikiki..just go to Dukes Statue and you will find teachers and No. shore.. try Suzy's in haleiwa.. Hope this helped.. Aloha!

It really depends on your level of proficiency... If you are just beginning, waikiki is probably best; if you like a bigger wave and can handle yourself just fine, north shore is pretty intense but maybe more appropriate.

NORTH SHORE of course, but just make sure you don't cut in on the locals out there.
