See a vet, they can recommend specialty foods that will be good for your terrier's stomach.

I have a 12-13 yr old Rescue neutered Westie that I adopted when he was about 3-4 yrs old. He has had these same symptoms the entire time I have had him. Has growling stomach for about a day followed by foamy phlegm spit up. Next day he is symptom free and ok. I have a neighbor with a Westie who has the exact same symptoms. I asked two Vets and 1 Westie breeder about this, All of them had absolutely no knowledge of such a problem. So much for talking to 'experts'. I am going to try the change of diet and see what happens. Wish me (and my Westie) luck.

I recommend to anyone who asks about food to consider switching to Natura pet foods because they are the healthiest in the world. In your case this is particularily true. My previous coworker is like me and has studied nutrition and has an excellent knowledge of pet foods. Her last dog was a Westie who has serious problems with most commercial dog foods...similar to your description.

She switched the dog to California Natural Lamb and Rice with wonderful success. The dog was so healthy afterwards. This is the simplest food on the market but is still among the healthiest. It is made of just chicken, rice and flaxseed. The reason it helps is because your dog's stomach is not trying to adjust to all of the other ingredients that are in most foods.

If you go to their website www.naturapet.com, you can use their store locator to see if there is a store near you that sells the food. If you can't find that food, use the websites food comparison tool to find a food that is similar but that you can find in a store near you.

All the best to your dog....it could help to go the vet as well. this is just a suggestion based on the assumption that it is an issue with the food and not something else.

Many commercial dog foods have ingredients that can cause allergies or stomach discomfort in your dog. Grains are a common culprit. I experienced the same problem with one of my animals. My advice is to put your animal on a grain free, human grade food such as Wellness Core, Taste of the Wild, or Innova Evo. Science Diet is loaded with grains which dogs do not process effectively. Repeated grain feeding can lead to allergies. I switched my pet off of Science Diet and onto Innova Evo. The diarrhea went away and she has no more stomach problems. I switched her because my vet said it was probably due to an allergy. It is good to also take your puppy in for bloodwork just to make sure there is not another cause to the problem.

You really should take your dog to the vet if you love her. It may not be a food related problem. So, get a stool sample and go to the vet NOW!

Why are you asking here? Your dog's health is in danger. Ask a vet.
