I got a really bad Poison Ivy rash this time last summer, but *knock wood* so far I've managed to avoid it, mainly because I've stayed away from the Poison Ivy in our bushes or worn protective clothing (long sleeves, vinyl gloves) when dealing with it. Anyway, last summer I ended up going to the doctor. She gave me a steroid based medicine, but they may give you something else depending on your medical history and how bad the rash looks. The medicine worked well and fairly quickly, but I had some withdrawl symptoms at the end of the course of medicine. As for over the counter medications I would recommend Benadryl gel to help soothe the itchy feeling (and whatever you do, don't itch!!), and get some Aveeno soap (or any other soap with oatmeal in it) for washing your hands and showering.

Several years ago I had a really bad case and tried everything. It was spreading to my face and getting close to my eyes. Went to the doc tried OTC nothing was helping. An old woman on the street told me to use bleach. Just put some on a rag and wipe it on. You will stink and it burns a little but it cleared up in a couple of days.

Take an "Aveno Oatmeal" bath. Take a Benedryl - The rash from Poison Ivy is an allergic reaction.

My daugther had poison ivy this year too and we had to take her to the doctor...they gave her a shot cause it kept spreading. And sent her home with a 6 day prescription and lotion to dry it up. In like 2 days I noticed a big difference. Good Luck!!!

poison ivy spreads when the areas are seeping. sometimes you can loosely (emphasis on loosely!) cover it with some gauze so that you won't accidently spread it. but cover it very lightly because it won't heal if your skin can't breathe.
aveeno makes a great oatmeal bath to help relieve some of the itching!

Try Technu, you can buy it at any store that sells with a pharmacy.

you won't like this answer, but one way is to gently break open the blisters and wipe clorox bleach over them. warning, this hurts like hell, but it kills it.
