its part of a larger conspiracy -

first your alarm doesnt work, you wake up to find you're out of toothpaste. then you lose a button on your shirt, drop food down the last good one and have to wear yesterday's shirt (again).

then your shoelace breaks, the fire alarm goes off, and you have to deal with your neighbour who's thrice your age and who gropes you at every opportunity.

as you head off into the street, you trip over the garbage, break the other shoelace and hobble your way to the station; only to be caught up in the crowd coming out of it.

then you realise that you've missed your train, and the next 3 ones; and that someone left gum where your hand is. you get told of for trying to wipe it off, a bird craps on your shirt - and then the next subway arrives.... languidly.

it waits on the platform for 30 seconds longer than normal because of a signalling problem, and then takes off slower than a speeding tortoise.

and then - it hits you. you wont be able to catch the elevator with that cute woman who works in legal, and somehow that thought alone slows down the progress of the train.

the remedy:
forget cute woman in legal. she doesnt have time for you. and she's bonking her boss afterhours. in any case, your shirt looks like crap (come to think of it - a lot of it is).
think about how soon it will be before you have to return to face your neighbour.

all of a sudden the train is flying.

Heck, no! I stutter, with the aid of fact my strategies is going approximately ten cases quicker than my mouth can shop up, or maybe then, people won't be in a position of constantly shop up with me! So, oftentimes, i'm going to be asserting some thing, and reediting it in my head, and my mouth gets caught!

Murphy's Law. It always happens that way. But if you're early; it comes late.

Well, that's Fate testing your patience.

If it happens to you again, pray that the clock at work breaks down. If it does, thank Fate. Maybe, the next time he'll be kinder to you.
