atheists seem to like it (although there are probably lots of people who generally love mythology who like it, and perhaps a few of faith...)
...whilst those who so strongly believe in god, and have a strong eg xtian conviction, and think their's is the one true god, don't seem to like http://www.godchecker.com
why is this?

A single site with information on all the known gods of history...what's not to like about that!?
...unless of course you happen to think that one of those gods is real. Then I can see why you might not like the knowledge that your god is simply one of thousands.

Well it gives a straightforward and in a lot of cases humorous approach and reviews all the different Gods in the same way with no favoritism - which is why the Christians don't like it.
I've always been a Mythology fan and like that site more than a lot of others that have basically the same old dry information.

Anyone can make up a website to prove their point in religion. Having "Faith" is what makes God a true source of inspiration. Haven't you noticed, that you spend most of your time, trying to prove he 'doesn't' exist rather than spending your time enjoying life? I would much rather enjoy watching my children growing up, and seeing all the beauty of this world, than trying to prove my point to someone, who may or may not get it. But then again, cest la vie!
