Besides palm trees and wonderful weather, I very much miss GOOD Mexican food. I find the Mex food here tasteless and overall, sucky. Any suggestions in NYC/Westchester. I'm looking for something that's Baja-Mex. (You SoCal transplants know the difference)

I don't know an exact restaurant, but Jackson Heights and Elmhurst in Queens have a large Mexican population... In fact walking down streets in those neighborhoods is like stepping into Latin America:-) I go there all the time for my Colombian food and I have seen Mexican restaurants along the way...
Maybe you should go explore one day:-) Just take the #7 train to 82nd street and walk along Roosevelt ave...

Unfortunately, TRUE Mexican/Baja food is a rarity in NYC. I'm sure there would be a place or two up in the Bronx and a few more in the SoHo/Tribeca/Chelsea/Village area. Won't be anything like what you're used to.

Well, I'm a Floridian originally, so I think I know my way around some Mexican food. I had amazing corn-on-the-cob appetizers the other day at Diablo Royale in the west village (but the entres were lacking) and I've had some great entres at Mexican Radio in SoHo-ish (not Radio Mexico - blech!!)

NYC is not the place to look for regional Mexican food. That is why the Picante sauce commercial is so funny, the one with the cowboys all saying 'New York City?'. You might get some really good Puerto Rican food though.
