Are you afraid of a vengeful God? I'm talking old testament just mean and nasty, a plague on all your houses, 40 days of rain to kill everything God? Or is God more like Jesus in the new testament, a nice guy who only wants you to say sorry when you did something bad so you can go to heaven? Seems to me that God and His Son are not quite on the same page. Of course it could be as the Catholics preach that they are one and the same, but this throws me for a curve. Did God get more mature, maybe grow up a little? What made Him angry no more? I thought He was perfect, why the change?

God--humanities answer to the questions that science couldn't answer at the time of his/her/its creation for example: Volcanic Erruptions--God of Volcanoe; Sunrise/Set--God of the Sun; Moonrise/Moonset/Cycles--God of the Moon (usually a Godess)...etc, the list goes on and on. As science advanced so did the concept of God...today God exists to address questions of philisophy such as: Why am I here? or Why do I exist? These are rhetorical questions that basically have so many answers as to render them mute. That's why God exists.

On to Jesus who is FALSE in every sense of the word. Scripture does NOT support his being anything more than a man with a great knack for teaching/preaching. He was not Son of God and definately not the Messiah (he met only 80% of the stated criteria for that). Didn't die for your sins or mine because we're still able to commit sin. Didn't save humanity beacuse we would have ceased to exsit and ascended or descended at either of two moments...His death on the Cross or his Resurrection. Not comming back because of prior failures...PEACE!

Gee, you sound like a disciple of the heretic Marcion. He tried to take the information from both testaments and create two gods, one for the old and another for the new. Thing is, Marcion overlooked Jesus' intimate relationship with the God of the Old Testament and the fact that Jews and Christians alike acknowledge only one true God. Anyone who suggests that "God and His Son are not quite on the same page" has not read the gospel of John carefully.

To answer you first question, I believe in the Ancient Egyptian Gods. As far as the Christian God, I have read the bible and maybe it was just the version I have, God has what sounds like a lot of temper tantrums in the old testament. In the new testament it is like God sent down his son to see how hard it really is for humans and became softer. I don't mean he would let you get away with anything but he was more gentle.

This is just my opinion, but I think when this Jesus dude was here on earth he was born into his jewish faith and as he looked at his religion and others he saw all the gods were demanding and vengeful.

He had other ideas about how god should be so he expressed them to others. He thought god would be more loving, intelligent and merciful. I think his beliefs caught on with some others but in time were caught up in the big business of religion once he was gone.

GOD IS UNCHANGING
What was required before Christ's death on the cross was the sacrifice of bulls and goats because only blood can atone for sin (the penalty for sin is death... hence the blood). When Christ came and took our sins on his shoulders, he died ONCE for all instead of us having to sacrifice once a day. he also opened the door for the gentiles (non-jews) to come to God.
A just God is required to punish us. but God is also merciful and this is shown clearly in the old testament (read psalms). And because God is merciful, He sent his Son to die for our sins on the cross, taking the punishment for your sins and my sins and therefore deflecting God's wrath from us to himself.
Read the Bible and you will see that God does not change. this is part of his character.
Romans is also a good book to clear that up a little bit. And i am sorry to say that, yes, it seems your catholic teachings have confused you a little. But they are right when they say the Father, Son and Spirit, the trinity, are one and the same.
God bless!

God is more like Jesus, forgiving and loving. Other 'Gods' before the time of Jesus basically concentrated on punishing trespassers for their 'Sins" and continue punishing trespasser to this day. The God of Jesus concentrates on returning sinners to his fold. True Christians worship this God who does not require you to be "afraid of a vengeful God" but a God who loves and welcomes you back to his peace and grace. But you must sincerely repent both in word and deed, what ever your trespass may be.

I think that God is the essence of all that is good. Therefore, the god that I believe in is all the good that lives within me. When I do good for others, I know that it is an act of God.
Furthermore, I think that I and the father are one based on the fact that I have the ability (just like God) to do good things. Me and God are co-workers. Poor people need clothes, I give clothes away. Is that an act of God? If it is not, then it is an act of self and God does not exist.
But, because he does exist, he works through all of us. Therefore, all of us and God are one. We are all gods because we have the power to do good.

Pick'N'Mix God?

Choosing God is not like choosing a mixture of the best sweets, picking you're favorites ones and leaving our the not so favorite ones.

Besides, i don't blame you're way of thinking or logic since you can't make up you're mind as to which BIBLE you should follow or adhere to or which parts of it.

That's why Islam and the Holy Qu'ran was sent to you to make it more simplistic and understandable for it is the only true word of God.

I don't believe in god. I know thee.

You are on the right track in doubting the mid-east version of god. Get into mysticism and keep learning!
