Mineral oil-safe for many animals and can be found at any pharmacy. Since she hasn't gone in a couple of days, try one dose-1 tablespoon by syringe. If you're not good at giving meds-just mix with a couple tablespoons of wet food.

If she goes, great. Look for any signs of digestive problems such as bloody stools or a 'wad' of waste. That could signal she's eating something she shouldn't be.

However, if she's currently showing signs of a blockage-not eating, drinking and a swollen belly-a vet trip is needed right away. Beagles are one of the breeds notorious for being goats especially if she's young. Tell your vet about your financial situation and see if they can give you a discount. (They usually start with a mineral oil treatment anyway.)

Call the vet and ask them what to give her. If you have a respectible vet that isn't just out for the money they shouldn't have a problem giving you some advice over the phone.

A vet is your dogs best bet. Constipation is a symptom of something else. Without knowing what you could harm your dog. She could have an obstruction, impacted or infected anal glands, a diet too high in fat. They causes are many. Bottom line, pets need vets.

If you make chicken or beef one day and you have allot of fat in it or with it, then give it to her. It will help with many things besides her contipation: like her fur. A little fat for dogs goes a long way.

I do this for my two beagles.

She definitely should go to the vet. A colonic blockage could easily kill your dog - her colon could rupture, or she could simply stop eating and starve herself.

If you can, try to give her a warm-water enema. If that doesn't work, vet vet vet vet vet.
