Well, Agnostics are people neither believe in God nor doubt that he exist. It is the middle ground between a Theist and an Atheist.

It's not related to any sect, since it's a non-religious belief.

There are many types of agnostics, really, so anyone who clumps them all together has made an error.

Some believe in a higher power, but believe that man is incapable of understanding it.

Some just say that it is impossible to know IF there is a higher power to begin with.

Some are almost atheists, saying that they don't believe in a higher power because there is no evidence of one, but that they admit that they can't rule it out entirely.

Agnostics are a very diverse group of people. The only thing that they have in common is that they think independently.

According to the Oxford American Dictionary, an agnostic believes that nothing is known or can be known about the nature of God or anything beyond material phenomena.

In other words, the Christian God may or may not exist. We don't know. The Christian God may or may not exist in the fashion believed by Christianity.

There may be many gods. It may be that what is true for a particular individual is based on his personal beliefs. If you believe in Heaven and Hell, that's the truth for you. But if you believe in reincarnation, then that's the truth for you.

We don't know. We can't know. We can only believe, and that belief is (according to agnostics) based on very questionable influences.

An agnostic is a person who basically believes that the human mind cannot fathom the existence of a god, or an ultimate cause for that matter. Though many will argue this fact, it is an idea taken from atheism.

to believe that their is not enough evidence on earth to prove that god does or does not exist.

"An agnostic does not deny the existence of God and heaven but holds that one cannot know for certain whether or not they exist. "

coined by the 19th-century British scientist Thomas H. Huxley

the prefix a-, meaning “without, not,”
the noun Gnostic. Gnostic is related to the Greek word gnsis, “knowledge,”
so, it translates to without knowledge

you can be a theist or an atheist and still be an agnostic by admitting that you could in fact be wrong.

Agnostic is someone who says that the truth about the existence and nature of thedivine God can not be established.

Agnostics don't deny that God might exist, but don't categorically accept his existence either.

To the best of my knowledge that is. I once believed they are atheists who have been bullied into accepting that there might be a GOd ;-)

And that makes sense. God is infinite, how can knowledge about the infinite be stored in finite number of words written in any religious text? Mixing table salt in a glass of water won't give you the ocean.

In the common vernacular, it means someone who has no position on the existence of gods.

Formally, it's someone who does not believe it is possible to know anything about god. Many agnostics believe in god nonetheless, or disbelieve in god nonetheless. So generally, there are agnostic theists and agnostic atheists.

As an Agnostic I believe that questioning matters of faith is not a SIN. I beleive that there may/might be a God but seek substantial proof. I believe that most theology is seriously flawed and in need of revision/updating. I believe in Humanity (and my faith lies in Humanity also...despite it being misplaced/misguided). Agnostics question and have been burned for it in the past--We're the heratics that push religion--humanity forward. PEACE!

Agnostic is the belief that a higher power exists, but without enough proof to believe in it.

Agnostic means one who believes in God but not in the conventional way. Usually they believe God is spiritual and may or may not adhere to religion. Like me.

I believe that God is a spirit that is within each of us. No powers or strengths or any of that stuff. I do not follow any religion.
