The #1 cause is what I call the "imp instinct." This takes over when, for example, a person bends down in front of you with hindquarters in the air. The thought crosses your mind to kick him because he's made a target of himself, but your better instincts and upbringing stop you.

But ... if our friend goes on a defiant rant of: "Go ahead, I dare you! You ain't got it in you, you chickensh*t!", then the odds of a butt-kick are increased astronomically. In short, it's not smart to wear a bull's eye on your chest, but if you do, then it's really, really not smart to scream: "Go ahead. Shoot!"

So when some zealot tells me: "I know the whole truth about everything!", I generally shrug my shoulders and even smile. But when he adds: "And all that science you spout is nonsense because Genesis says otherwise!", then I'm kicking (polemically of course).

You know something? I had a long drawn out well reasoned answer to this. But you know what? I just can't be arsed. I'll bash any religion that takes away the basic human right to be. Christians just seem so good at that and American Christians are the best of all..... Go yanks! When it comes down to it I'll happily slap a christian, Kick a catholic in the ****, trip up a protestant. Perhaps I'm wrong, perhaps it's just the mind numbingly stupid, bigoted self loving, self righteous few that paint all Christians as total twats... A nice English word for you do go look it up!

This is a very serious question. People will stop at nothing to profane the God I believe in, the Jesus I believe in and the Holy Spirit I believe in. It is not because the foundations of my faith have been shattered, It is I was commissioned to spread the Good news of one who was the ultimate sacrifice for me. You can not stand before the Lord and say no one told me. You can not point your finger in my direction and say why didn't you tell me if you knew. Why didn't you answer me in love and truth, not as a child. It is not me that is insulted but the Spirit in me. Personally I came from a very condemning home, the insults and put downs does not affect my mortal being, but the Spiritual being grieves for each and every one that points a finger. Just as Jesus wept over Jerusalem so do Christians weep over you.

Atheist, here is what you need to know to set these dumb Christians straight?

1) Inform them of how brainwashed they are. We atheist believe in free thinking so if anyone doesnt think like we do then they are brainwashed. Everyone is allowed to think freely but if they dont choose to be an atheist it must mean they are brainwashed. Makes sense right?

2) Tell them that Christianity is at the heart of all evil. This is so true. Well, except for all of the wars like World War I, II, Vietnam War, Korean War...so umm better not bring up the topic of wars. Oh yeah, tell them that most of the people in our prisons are Christians. Of course, 99.9% of people in prision are there for evil actions have nothing to do with Christianity - but dont worry Christians are usually too dumb to point out these obvious things.

3) Slam them on their Bible. I mean it was written like thousands of years ago with a bunch of translations and by like 50 different authors. I mean it is just a dumb book right? So what if it comments on every element of human nature which is true today just like it was yesterday. And so what if there is a remarkable harmony with all the writers of the bible despite the fact that they wrote over many different centuries. Who cares it has practical relevant advice on every area of life from business to marriage to healthy living. And its irrelevent that the Bible contains many prophecies which have come true and are unfolding at this very moment. I mean other books have done the same thing...haven't they?

4) Tell the Christians that the world would be better without them. I know that every nation with a Christian foundation has prospered and gives great freedoms to its people compared to other nations. So what. And look at all the great atheist countries...well omm scratch that

Why is it some people think you have to be a Christian to get into Heaven? Christian is a MAN-MADE religion, just like all religions-in my opinion, anyway. If you believe in God with all you heart, and do your best to walk in His son's footsteps, all will be well.
And I don't think it's "fun" to bash Christians-not even the fake ones, who say they're Christians but use they're hatred as an excuse for the things they say and do against other people. It isn't fun, it just makes me mad.

Because what they say leads you right into doing so. When they leave themselves as wide open as a dime a dozen prostitute, how can you resist the urge?
On a serious note though, if they started backing themselves up with more than a Bible quote, we would listen and probably have an intelligent conversation instead. Think, back it up and imagine what might actually happen if you did so.

I think the question should be re-worded to "extremist Christians" like the bible stompers and cult-leaders. Everybody gets a lot of laughs out of Ned Flanders on the Simpsons, Christians and non-Christians alike.

I liked the second answer by Don H, I think he really summed it all up.
I have a problem with people reading their bibles and taking scripture out of context and they do it all the time, people who carry their bibles around need a course in biblical studies, before they can interpret what they are reading.

Because you non believers are envious of what we have with Jesus, and are too afraid of turning your life over to HIm. God ahead.... keep on bashing. All you have are your stupid comments and satan and hell. We've got Jesus and eternal life in paridice with Him.
satan will not be able to offer you a drop of water when you meet him in hell. So just keep on bashing. Jesus is all the Christians shield agains people like you.

2 Samuel 22:36 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy gentleness hath made me great.

With the power of God covering us Christians, it is you who are insecure! Just like the bullies at school, picking on those who they feel threaten them just by being around them. Bullies are the insecure ones, not those they pick on. Grow up!
