Is it possible to transfer a video tape to a disk.If so whats the easiest and cheapest way of doing this?

I do this all the time.
You can either -
1. Buy a combo machine that has VCR and DVD built together.

OR, if you want to edit some parts of the VCR videos then -

2. Buy a decent CAPTURE CARD. You cannot go cheap on this. I had a cheap capture card in my Dell computer and I always thought that's the best I could do with the images. However, when I bought the ATI TV Wonder Elite, which is a capture card for video and cable, what a difference in picture quality !!! You will then need a descent video editing program. I use Roxio Movie Studio.

Just be aware, your computer MUST have at least 512 MB RAM. However, I found that even this was sometimes not enough. 1 GB of RAM (1000 MB of RAM) may suffice. I now have 2.5 GB RAM. If you don't have enough RAM, your computer will sometimes crash and you will get a blue screen with an error message.

If you don't want to go through all that trouble, choose option # 1.
