Because they don't know what the problems are until they can test, and prove it. I don't know too many that do this well. They go through school, and after that - it is guessing. I don't like doctors because of the facade of knowledge they put on.
Another doctor may have found it right away. Frustrating.

Well I am glad to hear that someone else has a problem with the length of time it takes doctors to figure things out. They, the doctors, say the reason it takes so longs is that medicine is not an exact science and the certain illness aliments or what ever you want p call them could have similar symptoms to others. So they have to take test and rule out this and rule out that etc., so maybe someday you will actually find out what is wrong with you.

Not all illnesses are extremely obvious to diagnose especially when a few different illnesses can have the same or similar symptoms.

I have no answer for this. In a typical case it should be diagnosed first visit. Do not lump all doctors together.

Because with most doctors now adays you have to demand tests to be performed on you cause they only want to do the absolute minimum that they get paid for.

some have salesmen to see others are talking on the phone to their wives and some are just slow because it took them so long to graduate.
