Went camping last weekend with the husband and kids..now I'm riddled with poison ivy. I have several spots on my arms, on the back of my knees, on my legs, on my face a couple places. I've always got poison ivy and always treated it with nettle juice but it doesn't seem to be working to well this time. It's just spreading man..driving me nuts! Calamine has never worked for me either..anyone havea any good ideas?

LOL We didn't romp in the bushes. Actually we were camping on an island and my husband braught the weed wacker to knock down some weeds to put up the tents. He's got it pretty heavy on his wrists. I keep changing the sheets at night because the rash on the back of my knee is all seepy and moist. We love to camp and kayak but I'm tellin ya...itching and being like this for a week afterwards everytime really makes me wonder if it's worth it.

Take an OTC antihistamine, like benedryl, to combat the problem internally. There is a topical solution call Ivy Dry -tannic acid based- that has helped me. Also, a paste of table salt on a cool cloth, pressed to an affected area may offer relief.

Go buy Tecnu. It works. It will stop the spread. Nothing will stop the reaction of the skin once it occurs. Tecnu can be found in good pharmacies. Ask the pharmacist for it. It is a nonprescription cleanser.

I would go to the doctor. There is a pill that will reduce your allergic reaction. It could run a long course if you don't. It does spread from towels, scratching, etc. But you know all of this. Get better soon.

Poor you...
First rule...after a romp in the bushes....wash up with cool soapy water.

I used to buy gallons of "Neoxyn" from the pharmacy...
the second application burns like heck...but it goes away in three days.

Good luck
