This is another non question.
I will assume that you mean what is a network card and what does it do.
There are several different types of network cards, and I will explain the two most commonly used.
1. PCI slot card. Used to interface a desktop computer that does not have a built in card. Used to connect to 10/100 mbs networks in the office and at home (DSL).
2. PMCI card. Does the same thing only designed for laptops that do not have a built in card.

Advantage of having a network card is you can connect to the Internet.
The disadvantage of NOT having a network card is you can NOT connect to the Internet.
