What's my standpoint towards illegal immigrants, none yet, still doing research but i can tell there is a lot of hatred towards them and racial hatred too. I know not all illegals come from mexico, but i hear a lot of anti illegal people say send all illegals back to mexico. Well that seems racist. One thing i do hear is that illegals steal SSN and use them, but what about the other side of the coin? The thousands and thousands of citizens go get their identity stolen via internet and other scams committed by our own citizens, or are we to turn a blind eye to them and accuse illegals of being the only ones that steal? I gotta do more research but i won't take anyone's word for it since it seems people generalize and tag everything to illgals when in reality they are not the majority or the cause, just a small factor. Thanks for your answers. BTW i'm Irish American, my parents immigrated illegaly back in the 70's but me, i was born here, but proud of my culture.

Hey, it's good to hear that you are researching and keeping your mind open. We anti-illegal people really do know that the illegals are not the only ones that steal identities, but this country doesn't need another catalyst for any kind of crime. I am attaching a couple of links in case you are interested. Thanks for being honest.

You need to do more research. If your parents were caught, it's unlikely they would have been sent to Mexico. Illegals do sometines use arbitrary 9 digit numbers as SSNs (many of them share the same one) in order to put something down on job applications. Most companies don't check and the illegals can't benefit from tax refunds or social security.
If this happens to a true resident (not just citizens) then they have the burden of sorting it out.

The IRS and consortium of credit reporting agencies are aware of the issue and make it a lot less painless than it used to be to correct many of the issues and challenges.

My spouse was a victim of identity theft by a former roommate. Credit cards and apparently ID cards were created in her name. Once this was discovered (about 4 months after the spending spree began), fraud alerts were put on her credit report... the police began their "investigation" and the card companies themselves did investigations.

Funny thing is that during all this, the perp called the credit reporting agencies and posed as my spouse - saying it was all a mistake. When the perp didn't know the password for changing info, she'd call back as my spouse's mother or sister... stating she had permission to take out the cards.

And as for the police... well, maybe you have to wave a big donut in front of them to get em off their asses. The perp was questioned... then took off for CA. At that point the police said there's nothing they could do because she left the state.

End of story.

What it all comes down to is that you can't know or trust anyone... regardless of where they come from.

Kind of extremist... but does hold some truth.
