It should be 'he'. Not because men are superior or that God is a man, but in English grammar the masculine form should be used to refer to things of unspecified sex, and as God isn't human and doesn't have a sex he either falls into that category or the 'it' category, which most people would think disrespectful.

God made man first because he was to be made with all the best bits, with the stuff he had left he made what ever he could with the obvious bits missing...the ability to read a map, common sense, the inability to stand up with using a toilet.

Yes! And then she created woman who was 'perfect'.
Apart from the fact that she can't pee standing up, she bleeds one week out of five and gives birth in excruciating pain.
