I assume he will always pick up the tab, and after 11 years of dating, I've only been wrong twice. But, I have a girlfriend, who ALWAYS offers, and half the time at least pays half. She says she doesn't want to owe them (I don't mean sex, get your mind out of the gutter). I think shes crazy. Opinions?

I have the resources to pay for all the things that we would be doing, but if she throws her money on the table, then I pick up the rest of the date...it depends on the woman, I have found that they feel more equal in a date if they are allowed to pay for something. But I never ask them too, does that make sense?

I think it is a bit old fashioned to expect a man to pay. Women are financial equals so they should pay their way.
It is only since the sixties and women became more financially independent that this curtesy has ended. Pre sixties women had less money and it was only fair to expect the man to pay - now; I think it is a little cheeky.
Fair play to you though.

I wish the girls I go out with would offer to pay. After supporting my exgf for 2 years I'm starting to want someone to support me.

I wish they always paid. My ex never let me put my hand in the pocket. He ALWAYS was the one who paid. He said that it's not nice having a girl pay for you. But my actual bf doesn't mind if I pay...:)) I think in his mind he would be happy if I was the one who would always pay! We make it in turns, once him, once me. Which I really don't like.
If a man wants to be a gentleman, he should never let his girlfriend pay! That's a shame!

ummm its a new age for things personally being almost 20 i still believe a guy should take the girl out but times are different now i like the offer but she should be taken care of ^^

Well if I am asking her out than of course I will pay but at the same time if she asked me out than I still reach for the check. Its nice to hear "let me pay that " once in awhile.

Men would love to pay for their dates, but since this thing about equal treatment came up, A man really don't know whether to pay or not, because we don't want to offend you and your ideas about equal treatment.

I pay because I want to.But if she enjoys my company, I expect her to pay once and a while.I refuse to be taken for a free ride, and that's what a lot of women are looking for.

i will offer pay but i will be hoping he is a gentleman and says ill pay for it i will pay once in a while like if he pays for me to get in a movie ill buy popcorn or sumthin
