there's no such word as escathology. Maybe you meant scatology which is the study of excretment or emphasis on obscene language. in either definition , i lost you in your argument about christians. are you trying to preach about the reckoning or the reincarnation of Jesus ? or the end of the world? it might help if you study first and paraphrase your question right . I'm trying to go easy on an illiterate like you obsessed w/ religion. you stated life when you mean live. Truth hurts. it's hard to be more tolerant of numbskulls like you.

If Christ comes back it will be the third time. If Christ hasn't come back there must be 2000 year old people walking around somewhere. Read Matthew 24:34 "I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened." The Greek for generation is genea which means those living at that time. The New Testament was written in Greek. A generation is a 40 year period. I don't call Christ's very own words "flimsy." You have to read and understand the whole Bible to know that the "end times" was meant for those living at that time. Not a future event that will occur in our lifetime. Matthew 16:28 "I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom." I live according to Christ's words and expect to meet him in Heaven. I study my Bible everyday and am still learning but this makes alot of sense to me.

Really? I thought the most important thing for a christian was to live life according to the teachings of the Hero in the Bible who said that the scriptures were about his Father, not our guidelines. Perhaps thats why you see strawhouses because your trying to be Jewish, not following Jesus.

I think some Christians become obsessed with the end times perhaps because it is a frightening time to contemplate. They try to figure out everything about it in order to be prepared, but its a useless endeavor. They would better serve God focusing on the here and now.

They want to know the day and time of His returning. What they don't do is read the Bible where it says no one will know the day or time. I think some Christians do this as a way to influence, and exert power over other Christians.

we live in the here and not yet... so esaotology is important
but I tend to agree... sometimes particular vies are emphasized at the expense of possibly more important things
som epeople have the opposite problem, overrealized escatology... expecting no more pain and sickness and suffering when that will happen... but now aint the time

I personally feel that some of them are secretely gloating that the unbelivers will get their come-uppance as they face the fiery wrath of God and that the "chosen" (always the person doing the gloating) will ascend into heaven

Are you sure the future will happen? Maybe it already has.
The only time is now.
Oh, but I completely agree with you.
