Kafir is you. Non Muslims.

Jihad is the Holy War that must be waged against the Kafir.

They have a couple other words that I can't recall at this time, but to lie and deceive is OK if you are doing it to kill kafir.

8:39 "Fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is all for Allah."

Jehad is derived from an Arabic word Juhud which means to Strive, To Stuggle.

Jehad means to do your utmost in a matter or in the performance of your duties.

There are four type of Jehad.

1- Jehad with your innerself satanic forces or to eradicate bad habits into yourself and convert your
nagative thinking to positve.
2- Jehad for Propagating True/Peacful Quranic Teachings in Society and World.
3- Jehad with Money - To use your money for needy peoples and for good causes in society.
4- Jehad with Sword (Defensive Jehad) - For eliminating Bad peoples in society who create distress in society and world

KAFIR - a man or group of peoples who are against the above Jehad's efforts.

'Jihad' actually means "to strive" & "struggle"

It comes in a Hadeeth (sayings and actions) of Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) that the best Jihad is to do Jihad (strive) against one's self and desires.

It also comes as the best jihad is to speak the truth before a tyrnt ruler.

Another shade of meaning of Jihad is to fight for the cause of Islam if and only if someone wages a war agianst Islam.

Dont brand Jihad as terrorism, all religions talk about fighting. It comes even in the Vedas & Mahabharath, where Sri Krishna tells Shri Arjun to fight. Shri Arjun is reluctant to fight against his own cousins, but Shri Krishna compells him to fight as it is a fight agianst evil.

Similarly Jihad is a fight against evil, its a fight to rid the land from Oppressors.

Those who quote the vers "that fight non-muslims wherever you find them"... quote it in a wrong context.

That verse actually refers to a battle against evil wherein ALLAH tells the believers that in a battle field fight the oppressors wherever you find them, but some non-musims knowingly generalize it for bad publicity of Islam. May ALLAH guide them.

Kafir means "rejecting" or "covering"

In Islam, "kafir" meansto rejects or covers the simplest and the biggest truth of the world. That is, one who rejects that there is GOD or anyone who says that there are more than ONE GOD, is a Kafir. because he failed to identify the reality of GOD. All religions even Hinduism (check the Vedas) speak as GOD is ONE. But Islamic Monothiesm is unique as we practive and preach Monotheism in GOD's worship and attributes.
