I'm in the same boat, and I have a trainer. Basically, its all about the food. You have to burn more calories than you take in. I suggest keeping a log of what you eat and writing down the calorie count. Then go online and find out how many calories are in what you are eating. This can be a pain, so if you cook a lot (like I do), think about all the meals you prepare on a regular basis, and spend an afternoon researching the calories of the ingredients in the dish. This way when you eat it, you know exactly the calorie amount for the portion size you are eating ahead of time. Now, all you have to do is analyze your workout, and see how much you are burning. This is easiest if you use cardio machines with calories burned on them (treadmill, stairmaster, etc.). If you don't have access to these machines, go online and look up the activities that you do (there are tons of websites, just for this) Finally, don't forget the calories you burn simply by living (even sleeping burns calories, apparently). Hope this helps.

Well to lose 20lb, you really need to increase your heart rate a bit more than just walking. Try doing some cardio, you could join an aerobics class or take up jogging. Also remember to work on toning your body and building muscle also, which will make you appear slimmer and fitter. Green tea is great for kick starting metabolism, along with a high protein diet consisting of oily fish, lean meat, eggs, nuts, but avoid red meat. Also plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables and low GI carbs, such as brown bread, brown pasta, whole grain cereal, porridge (avoid bananas, potatoes and carrots). Remember to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day and always have breakfast. Good luck : )

YOu need to exercise more and eat less. You need to cut your caloric intake down to no more than 1200-1400 calories a day. Try to do more physically challenging exercise. Lift 5 lb weights for at least ten minutes a day and do about a hundred jumping jax every day.
If you don't cut your caloric intake down drastically and up the anti with your work out, you will never lose weight. THat's just the way it is.

You're body's probably gotten used to your walking and you have plateaued. Therefore you've stopped losing weight. Your body needs constant changes so it doesn't get used to doing the same routines and stop doing their job - burning fat! Snack on baby carrots, veggies you like, fruit, sugar-free or no sugar, and drink plenty of water. Make sure you're not sneaking in fried items or items with cream. 2 of my closest friends have done weight watchers and they should be on their website for proof on how well it does. You can go to their website and find out more. You can even locate a meeting site near you. *Tip: you can get lower point recipes for free if you search for any foods you like and read the blogs. Hey it's how I've been doing it and I'm getting there too! It works, variate workouts and eat great. Try it.

It is mostly NOT your fault, if you need to lose weight. The way you have been taught to eat is responsible for making obesity the number one health problem in the world (according to Atlantic Monthly magazine) replacing hunger and infectious disease. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin. Not a diet, but diet lifestyle.
Find out about fastest way to lose weight, gradual ways to lose weight, most effective exercise and anti-water. Lose bodyfat and retained water which also makes you a lot fatter (bloated). Most important-- make sure to read the last "fat loss tip", first before anything else, to see the number one food that causes Americans to be fat.

well if you use green tea you can loose weight but it will take time.
All teas (green, black, and oolong) are derived from the same plant. The difference is in how the plucked leaves are prepared. Green tea, unlike black, and oolong tea, is not fermented, so the active constituents remain unaltered in the herb. The leaves of the tea plant are used both as a social and medicinal beverage.

Watch your calorie intake. Exercise more to boost your target heart rate.. Drink water at least 8-11 glasses a day. Eat plenty of fruits and veggies, watching your sugar intake. If you eat sugar, when you exercise, your body is going to burn that first before the fat. Eat whole grain carbs, not processed.
Good luck!! I'm with you!!!

Eat a proper diet, and make sure you eat enough food... I have had a similar problem, joined weight watchers, and they said I wasn't eating enough. I upped what I ate a little then the pounds started coming off. Make sure you eat foods that are good for you - not junk, and drink plenty of water.

20 lbs is way too much too losse for your height... Why don't you lift some light weights? on days you don't walk! Even if they are 5 lbs. When you lift weights you burn fat even when you are not trying becuase you beguin to get leaner and more sculped. you don't have to look like a body builder but it helps burn more fat just start by doing 3 sets of hammer curls, biscp curls, Sholder presses, squarts with weights, and tricep kick backs... That is enough to get you started!
