Remeber the days when you used to go the corner shop with your pocket money and there used to be whole wall full of tubs of 1/4 sweets? Don't know about you but I used to have to give some serious thought there was that many! Now you are lucky if there is just one tub!

Jelly Beans - not that exotic American muck (cappuccino, bubble gum etc.) but the proper sugar-rush inducing, full of the additives Jamie Oliver would have a paddy over, luminous teeth-jamming sort. I still go to a little newsagent that sells them in just the way you describe and, despite the metric system and my otherwise conscientious adoption of it in my daily life, I always ask for a quarter of them.
Hands off the pink ones, they're mine.

those nice bon bon type sweets, lemony on the outside and once you bit through, it was like toffee in the middle, and all covered in icing sugar which went everywhere!!!
