I totally understand. I had parents like that. It got to the point that I eventually stopped talking to them about personal things. I found a close adult friend that I can talk to. I'm sorry to say, but your parents will probably never change. However, you do need to let your frustrations out. Find an older adult you can talk to. Aunt, Uncle, Grandmother of older friend. It helps alot..good luck

Have you proven yourself to ever be responsible? Do you save money for the things you want? Do you do your chores, or whatever needs doing around the house without being asked? Do you say your going to do something and actually do it?
These are the traits of a responsible person.

Start showing them that you are a responsible person by actions first, and then try words later. You'll then have a lot more good points to make in your discussion.

Parents have this uncontrolable need to run their kids life. It's like integrated into their DNA or something. I think that parents think because they were children once, they think that everything will blow over and think you're being overdramatic. sorry to say it, but It'll never change, so you just have to deal with it like the rest of us.

I have teens, and I always try to listen. But in the event I can't they have started writting me notes and leaving them for me.

Try writting a note and see how that works for you. It has really helped us.

Good Luck !
