Because he is a jealous God. He even said so himself. And I thought that jealousy was a sin.

Why do parents insist their children obey them? are they insecure or egomaniacs?

Nah- they just know more than their kids...

God created man, and knows what kind of behavior is most likely to bring the highest levels of happiness (barring others' bad choices). He's even told us how!!

Paying attention to Him, listening to His Spirit can bring us so much understanding, guidance, etc, why NOT worship Him?

He's nonexistant. Get over it. Religions are like languages, they all started as 1, people took their own interpretations of it and spread what they wanted. Another words, it's folklore. People talked about this while strumming a banjo and then some idiotic politician saw this as a means to control the populous. Now you have the modern world.

The God that I worship does not insist it.
The God that I believe is aware of my belief.
That is why I don't need to belong to organized religion.

I don't believe God requires our worship or praise. That is a man-made issue. Worship and praise is a show of appreciation for what the Almighty does for mankind whatever spiritual system you believe in.

He is God, The Lover of your Soul.
He dosen't insist, He gave you free will.
The more you know God the more you want to worship Him.

God did not insist us to pray. God is free of all needs and really don't need our prayers. We pray to God because it makes us feel better.

Don't you thank and develop feelings of admiration when someone goes out of his way to help you? Sure you do.

God has given us so much that we must pray and thank Him as much as we can.

He created all things, including you. His wisdom is beyond comprehension. He instilled in us a need to worship. We can worship Him. It is much more satisfying than worshipping wordly things (birds, animals, etc.) and certainly better than idol worship -- whichever celebrity currently holds attention.
