If you haven't left for BCT yet, then you are in DEP(Delayed Entry). While in this you can opt out at any time, go speak with your recruiter.
If I were you, I'd give it some serious thought before joining or deciding to leave. I went in 4 years ago, screwed up and got chaptered out. Now I'm fighting to get back(reserves this time). If I had given it more thought at first, things might have been different.
On a side note, military life isn't as hard has many people make it out to be. It gave me a lot, traveled to 5 different countries(Iraq isn't on that list) and met my wife, all because of the Army.
Good luck in your choice, you have until that last trip to MEPS to change your mind. After that, it gets a lot harder and will follow you for life.
HS grad is a requirement as well, unless you're like me and managed to get a semester of college without a GED or HS. There are ways around that requirement, again speak with the recruiter.

You can get out military prior to shipping out simply by saying I changed my mind I don't want to enlist. however by doing this you may not be able to get in again. Does the recruiter know that the person doesn't have a GED if not point it out. why do they need a GED didn't finish high school? Military training now days ain't a cake walk if your education skill are not up to snuff you might not even make it out of training let alone learn a profession think long and hard and go talk to that recruiter again. reaper out........

If you have done all of your swearing in you are obligated, know that breaking your contract can hurt you. If you have not finished processing then you are fine. But know that a failure to report will be filed in your name and will make it hard for some jobs that work with or are in the government. Some years back there was a soldier who did not have it, they had him take his GED while going through training. they may also let you go to Basic, then delay AIT till you get your GED, but know once you have shipped you belong to them, not passing will give you a dishonorable discharge. You really should talk to your recruiter.

BLUF - - - If you haven't shipped... you don't have to do anything...
With or without a GED or a Bacholors Degree... If you don't want to go, just tell your recruiter (give him/her that courtesy) And he/she is going to be pissed off and tell you all kinds of stuff that if you don't, you'll go to jail or you'll never be able to get a job.. yadda yadda, yadda... this isn't true... First I encourage you to get whatever educational training you can, I don't know your particular circumstance, so I don't know why you haven't completed High School but... A good recruiter would be still be able to squeeze you in some how... So if you don't want to go, that's not going to get you "excused". so be it.
When I was a recruiter, I had a candidate that I thought was an exceptional case and even took him to the GED testing sight and payed for it out of my own pocket (about $30 even though a recruiter is not supposed to do that) The kid was hanging out with the 'wrong crowd' and really needed a direction in his life, he was able to enlist as 91W Medical Care specialist even with his GED (actually a pretty smart kid got above a 60 on his ASVAB), but before he shipped he had a change of heart - "too cool for that sort of thing", two months after his ship date he got sentenced to 5 years in prison for stealing cars with his "cool friends..." Of course when he told me he didn't want to go, "I told him it was possible that the Army could put him in jail (this much is true, but I don't think it's happened in quite some time, guessing you've got about a 1 in a million chance of the Army actually persuing something like that) And of course I was pissed off... It's hard to find good qualified people to put in the Army. But in hindsight I guess I was mostly disappointed in what all happened to him... He had a lot of potential, but given his own choices he actually did end up in prison. - - -what a waste.

If you are thinking of getting out, then tell your recruiter now, this way it will not affect you in a bad light. I know your recruiter will tell you that you signed a contract and you must go, but you really dont have to go. They know it and its legal to back out no matter what they tell you.
The GED will not help there, most of the time the military will send you to another school while in boot camp to let you get your GED. You will stay in boot camp until you complete it, and you dont want to stay in boot camp any longer then you have to.

You don't have to have a GED to join the army. You can get out by not reporting for your ship date. You can also refuse to train at basic, or pack your crap and leave.

Don't count on it. The Army needs recruits and may decide to help the soldier get the required education instead of letting him / her out of the contract. It is probably handled on a case by case basis.

If you dont have a GED and they allow you in its probably your best bet to go ahead and join. Hell if you dont you'll end up working at Wendy's for the rest of your life.

You can opt out of the military at any time prior to leaving for boot camp. Just contact your recruiter and advise them you have changed your mind.

Nope, they'll let you get through basic and then send you to a basic school and then to a command and then they'll help you get your GED by sending you to classes to prepare for it.
