The killing by the Israelis of four UN observers, Austrian, Canadian, Finnish and Chinese represents four equal tragic deaths. However, with China's increasing world power I reckon Israel have got more than they can cope with if they have made enemies of the Chinese, albeit the Chinese like the Israelis are desperately worried about the threat of Islamic extremists within their population.

Whatever you think of the Israeli objectives, I do not see how their current action in Lebanon can do them anything but harm. You cannot defeat a terrorist organisation by bombing and invading a country which is not even their home base. What happened to winning hearts and minds?

While the Chinese may be fiercely critical about the UN bombing error, the Chinese are very pragmatic people - the issue will be appropriately dealt with through the suitable channels.

Chinese people have always been good to the Jewish people in China - it continues its benevolence and kindness to them - that's Chinese culture. This is an isolated incident.

Like good people everywhere in the world, it would be best to give Isreal all the time it needs to destroy as much of Hezbollah in Lebanon; after all they set a bad example to muslims in other parts of the world.

The UN observers were either working with or even in collusion with Hezbollah. The fact is that Hezbollah built a military base around the UN observer post to either use it as a human shield, or to use it as propaganda when, by necessity, Israel bombed or shelled the Hezbollah positions.

As for home base - Hezbollah is a puppet to the terrorist governments of Iran and Syria, but it is mostly based in Lebanon. It has been the de facto government of Southern Lebanon since Israel pulled out of there in 2000 - there are no Lebanese Army troops in southern Lebanon. They politically make up about 20% of the Lebanese government legislature. Not sure where you got the idea that Lebanon isn't the Hezbollah home base.

Hearts and minds is about winning over civilians who you're trying to save/liberate. Israel isn't in Lebanon to liberate anybody. And most people in Lebanon (and Arabia and EU and Democrat party, etc) don't like Israel anyway.

The Chinese has got more values that the Americans, at least they don't steal land and try to be good with their deceits and lies. Yes, maybe the Chinese should nuke a few stolen cities in israel for the life of it's soldier. The israelis are doing exactly what Hitler was doing with his collective punishment policy, so what is the world going to do about it? When a religion grows the number of believers will grow too, is that what the west is worried about? Why paint Islam as extreme when if you let them to their belief they will outnumber the non believers sooner than you you will feel comfortable with. You may think it is victory if only you know your loss.

You can't persuade a terrorist to stop killing-winning hearts and minds isn't an option here. They are trained almost from birth to
hate Israelis and Americans. The reason Israel has invaded Lebanon is because Hezbollah has been using it as a point to launch attacks. It's too bad about the U.N. observers, but to be honest I'm surprised this sort of thing doesn't happen a lot more often than it does. Going to a war zone is hazardous to one's health.
As for the Chinese, their view on the value of human life is different from our own and they're not exactly going to declare
war on Israel because of one fatality-any more than we would.

you're making it sound as if it replaced into stray bomb. in fact the UN were deliberately attacked to illustrate Israeli hate for them and to discourage their better deployment. each and every of the aspects of the gig said in good structure o.k.. that is sparkling that Israel's objective is to wreck Lebanon as a us of a and kill as a lot of human beings as they could damage out with. that is an act of hate. Hezbollah is the pretext, no longer the reason.

Who cares what the US vetoes. The US does whatever they want anyways. So China should follow Americas example and make a pre-emptive strike against israel and just tell the world they suspect WMD. :D

The Chinese Communists have killed so many of their own citizens, I don't think they are going to miss one more.

Well, they can't do very much since the US vetoed a condemnation of the murder in the Security Council...
