NASA space programme and be an astronaut. I am serious about this. I have no idea where to start. Me mam will laught at me and me step dad will take the piss. Everyone round here is on income support. Some of the lads with brains in my school went to flying school at Barton..is that what I need to do? I would consider other careers too like RAF but NASA sounds so cool. I think the prettier chicks like it too. What can I do to make this happen?

Seriously mate, respect to you for wanting to better yourself! You have a fantastic attitude (except maybe the "I think the prettier chicks like it too" comment).

However to join NASA you need to be an American citizen and you need to be the absolute creme de la creme. You need an excellent degree from an excellent University and excellent experience in whatever field you study.

If you still want to try for it, then you need to absolutely excel in a chosen scientific field (you would be a member of the crew sent up to do experiments) or get into the RAF as a fast jet pilot (incredibly difficult to do) and you could be the pilot.

Either way you will need a first class Uni degree.

I live in a council estate in glasgow, i am a single parent and had been on income support for several years following a divorce and the loss of my job due to ill health. I couldnt hack it anymore so decided that i would go back to college (i left school with 4 o grades which shows u how long ago that was)
I am now in my second year at university - if i can do it - cos everyone hates single parents - then so can u cos u really want to try.
Nasa is for the cream of american graduates, but if u decided u were in love with maths or physics, you could still get a job with them via outside contracts, but thats the future.
Phone ure college and ask to re-do your standard grades and work towards highers or A levels.
Even if u decide u hate it, being in college is good for you as u meet loads of new and exciting people,(and the young lasses are stunning!) and u can change your course to something different if you dont fancy nasa anymore#
Good Luck

at 16 u have the world at your feet , if u think u can can do something with your life , then do it now rather then later get educated go to collage, then follow on from there u could even end up going to uni the type of employment u are seeking requires very high grades but even if u dont make it as a astronaut , there are other good high paid jobs u could go for
good luck

I'm afraid it's either back to school or go with Learn Direct to get similar GCSE's. You will need to get your GCSE's/A Levels/a degree. However if you are deadly serious about it and want it enough it will happen. Good luck.
