check out www.confetti.co.uk for ideas, they will tell you what to cover, although it is a UK site and I don't know where you come from it is still a really useful source of ideas.

The groom generally thanks everyone for attending, gives any special Thank Yous (usually to friends and family that are helping with the reception), says something about how happy he is to be joining the brides family and lastly says something nice about his new wife. Take as long as you need to say everything you want to say, but keep in mind the longer you speak, the less they are going to pay attention.

The groom typically thanks everyone for coming and tells them how much he and the bride appreciates them being there. He also thanks his parents and the brides parents for all of their love, support, and help with the wedding. He should also compliment the bride and say something about how happy he is to have her as his wife. It shouldn't take longer than a few minutes. Just be sincere and don't worry about it too much. Good luck!

I've seen them go on forever and I've seen them short and sweet. I suggest keeping it short and sweet, so the guests stay interested and don't get bored.
