switch to a pacifier!! a baby should NEVER go to bed with a bottle. First, when you lay down a child to suck on a bottle there is a choking hazard along with the risk of baby bottle tooth decay. You don't see the decay problems till its too late. The decay starts at the gumline BEHIND the front teeth. Bottle feeding is different than letting a child fall asleep at the breastl The formula has different sugars than breast milk and formula more likely will cause problems. And as you are nursing your child, you can wipe off his teeth with a washcloth after he finishes nursing before you lay him down. Your child is NOT being comforted by the sucking, he's conforted by being held until he falls asleep. Unlike a bottle, where you just plop him in his crib with a bottle. He then is comforted by the sucking, so do your child a favor and switch to a pacifier.

Tell them that only water goes in the bottle. If they want anything else they can drink it out of a sippy cup before bed. Be firm. The child will end up with damaged teeth from drinks. You are the parent you must be strong. They may cry but only for a couple of days.

I have a 33 month old who still takes a bottle at night. You can try watering his bottle down a lit each night until he is not satisfied with the bottle anymore and it's not worth waking up for. Otherwise, when my daughter was 3 she willing gave it up?

well, he is just a little over 1 1/2 years old, so , it isn't horrible, but, this is waht my mom did to my brother, and he got off the bottle before a year old, she wasn't even trying to break him of it yet, but, at night, when he would take his bottle, one night shew put water in it. well, he didn't like it , and through it, well the next morning she out milk in the bottle, and he wouldn't even get near it. He staterd drinking out of a sippy cup then.

Funny you ask this question me myself have 11 kids so i went through this many times you would stay :}. trying using soft tips sipee cups Or some times use soft straw cups that doesn't spill.
Most of the time they just wanted something soft to chew down on when they sleep.Only one out of elevn kids has had their front four teeth remove at the age of three due to bottle rot.she is now six and still await from the coming of her new replacement teeth but that doesn't stop her from smiling :)

Letting him sleep with a bottle is really bad for his teeth. The sugar from the milk will decay his teeth as well as any juice! Water only if you have to

just stop giving him the bottle, you are in control of the situation not your 17 month old. It will take him a few days...maybe crying, fussing, but in the end, it will be for the best.

Get rid of all the bottles and move to a sippy cup. That might make the transition easier.
