Some of the most darling little girl patterns that I've seen are in a swedish sewing magazine called Ottobre Design. You have to be able to add seam allowances for sewing together, plus converting from metric to u.s. They might be a bit daunting but not impossible if you are a beginner sewist. I'll try to link to a few of the back issues that are utterly amazing.

I've seen sewing patterns for dog's sweaters.
just check at a local craft store and they should have a whole section
