God? or men "inspired" by God? I've met a lot of nutty homeless people on the streets who claim to be inspired by God.

Excellent question. Yes, the bible claims that scripture was written by men who were "carried along by the holy spirit."

I guess you're right, people who claim to have talked to God or whatever can seem nutty. But consider that back in the day, the prophets were considered pretty weird. For example, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Ezekiel, and those guys were looked at by the larger society as being nutcases and "dangerous."

Also, when Paul appeared before King Agrippa and the Roman governor Festus in Caeasarea, Festus said to him in the middle of his testimony - "Paul you are out of your mind! Your great learning has driven you INSANE!" (see Acts 25, 26)

Some of the greatest and most successful people in the world have always been a bit strange. Look at Einstein. Even Bill Gates - he isn't exactly Mr Personality - he's kind of a dweeb...

You are the one judging them as nutty.

I think they just spend to much time at the christian run shelters listeng to ideas about a judgmental God, hellfire and damnation.

That nonsense would be enough to make anyone sound crazy.

As for your bible question. It had to be men or else God would have to be crazy. Does the idea of an unconditionally loving God with endless conditions make any sense to you.

People make all of this stuff up to try to control others by making them afraid of Gods punishment.

The last time I checked we had an unconditionally loving God.

Unconditional means no conditions.

No hoops that need to be jumped through to keep God loving us. No silly commandments.

This is not, and was never the teachings of Jesus. He asks one simple thing from us. He asks that we love our neighbor. This is the only thing that we need to do to get our selves home to God.

Love and blessings.

It's not who wrote the bible, but who were the men responsible for putting only certain gospels together making up the bible? And who decided on these men's authority to put the bible together? And what about the gospels that were left out? Didn't God inspire those also?

The stories in the bible were accounts of religious beliefs witnessed and imagined. The stories were compiled by clerics at the behest of Emperor Constantine. Many stories were left out as to not have conflicts within that written text, the rest burned. The dead sea scrolls are some of those text that were taken away and hidden.
The importance is not the written word but rather the message to humanity.

God was created by Man so obviously Man wrote the bible.

Asking religous questions is pointless because people who don't believe give logical answers and people who do believe move the goal posts.

First off, there is no god, he is a fictional character made up by man. And the bible was written by cavemen to help keep their kids in line.

More important is to real-ize it's all "allegory" and "mystery" notably written "aforetime" for our "learning", to "go learn what meaneth I will have mercy and not sacrifice"; Which is to allegory say I will have grace and not law, life and not death.

As for what's "inpired of God" in 2Timothy 3:16, it's notably the singular script-u-are of such plural and contrary scriptures.

The "grace" of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.
