Good question.
Not all are made up, but many can be cured without medication.
Hormones cause many to suffer depression especially young girls. It throws them into eating disorder (partially triggered by media), and there is such competition among their peers nowadays that too can be a cause to childhood disorders, but then there is also the circumstances they are living.
What makes one person happy doesn't neccesarilly make another happy, really children are limited to choices on how they live because of fear we parents limit their freedom, a majority of us can't afford to give our children what they want and a lot of their wants are keeping up with their peers so pressure on the parent. Children want to be independant but it is hard as a parent to know how much we give them. A child has pressures with education and bullying.

Children need more places with people to talk to than prescribed drugs and there are many places for children nowadays, as long as they know of these places and they can find it in themselves to talk issues out then the less will feel the need for prescribed drugs

See, the problem is, parents who medicate their kids generally haven't been the best parents in the world, and they feel it's necessary to medicate to control.
