Well if you have time to ask questions on Yahoo then you have time to help out a co-worker. It'll make ya feel good helping someone out.

Surely you can complete the pending job as your co worker is not well and not ask for.However in the larger interest of your organization you can finish the same and tell him too.Such work is always reciprocal and good for relationship and understanding.Best of Luck and Best wishes.

It sure would be a nice thing to do, and I'll bet your co-worker would really appreciate it. It will also look good to your manager - shows you're a team player and willing to help out.

If you finish his work without talking to him first, he may not react well. He may look at it as an invasion, trying to take over. Talk to him first, find out how he feels about it, let him know that you are willing to help him out.

Yes, that sounds very kind of you. Only if it became a habit would it be bad, but it's nice to help someone out when they need it.

I'd ask first. I wouldn't want to step on someone's toes. I appreciate it if I were sick and needed the help.

if they are a friend - yes!
if not, why not do it.
they will appreciate it and your boss will see you as responsible and able to handle more.
it's very kind and noble of you if you do it
