I don't think that the majority of kidnappers will tie up kids as it is usually a non-custodial parent that's doing the kidnapping, and what's the point of removing your children from the custodial parent if you are going to do something to make them hate you?

I suppose that the few that do use restraints will probably have the standard stuff that's used. However, I do not feel like delving into that as it is rather disturbing that you are asking about this. I simply hope that you are either joking or have a morbid curiosity.

Kidnappers can use a variety of materials to tie you up with. The reason they tie you up is so you can't run off or attempt to hurt them. How they tie you up can be done by several means from knocking you out to holding a knife or your throat.

Not hanging around kidnappers a lot, I can only go by what I've seen.

I would assume that they use plastic zip ties. A lot easier than lugging around rope and much stronger.

You have to be restrained, as you will try and escape.

You could use movies like "Fargo" and "Ransom" as reference, but it is just a guess.

Zip ties or duct tape are cheap but really uncomfortable, zips esp. can cut off circulation. Handcuffs are pretty sturdy, but when you go to buy them and you aren't law enforcement its pretty much a tipoff that you're up to no good. So, a kidnapper would just stick to rope or scarves or bandannas.

How do kidnappers tie me up and why....crazy question...
To start, they'd probably have the wrong girl, because for one thing I'm poor, so bad choice for ransom, and for another I carry pepper spray and a switchblade knife in my purse, so I'm not the girl you want to tick off....

but my kidnapper would probably start by quickly stuffing a wadded up bandanna into my mouth because if I scream for help it's all over, then use another to tie over my mouth so I can't spit the first one out. Then wrap up my arms with rope and tie my wrists together with a bandanna or scarf. Definitely tied my ankles so I can't run away, then it's over the shoulder and off to the hideout to start cutting up magazines for the ransom note.

Now that's if he has all his stuff with him. If he thinks its too conspicuous to carry around rope and scarves and duct tape, like people wouldn't catch on to what he's doing...I guess if he knocked me out, he could just take the shoelaces out of my sneakers and tie my hands and ankles with that, and use my belt to pin my arms to my sides.

Why would he tie me up...well, ransom is out because I'm poor so he must be secretly in love with me, and ready to risk jail for a chance to whisk me away to a secret retreat where he can hold me until I fall in love with him. That happens sometimes, people fall in love with me, they just can't help themselves.

some do some dont, they all tend to have their own ways, if they tie them up they prob use anything like string or rope or wire !
