Counseling. You are substituting eating beacuse something is bothering you.

Yes there is, it's when the receptors in the brain don't fully transmit that the stomach is full... it's a mental disorder, they're ALWAYS very hungry.

You probabaly don't have that, otherwise you would have been so since you were 2.

A lot of people eat when they have nothing better to do or when they're very stressed. Look at other factors in your life and make a small change little by little, whether it be going for a walk, going shopping, at least making sure that what you're eating is healthy.
Good Luck

Yes, try Paul Mckenna's books and cds, doesn't advocate diets or major exercise regimes... I know it doesn't sound much but I've lost 20lbs in two years.... but the plus is.... it has stayed off and I have still been able to eat whatever I want.

Had a problem with comfort eating, sounds like you might too.
Good Luck and don't be to hard on yourself, you've made the first step by recognising you have a problem, just don't fall in the pit of fad dieting.

Yes, there is such a thing. You need to discipline yourself... Like not eating between meals, NEVER EVER in front of the PC or TV... etc. And medical help may do some good - dietitian or a ...

eating (especially fats and sugars) triggers the pleasure center of the brain - it can be addictive.

It is hard to handle an addiction to food because you can't just stop eating.

But you could be gaining weight due to a thyroid problem, diabetes, and, rarely, due to some allergies, etc. It makes sense to be tested to make sure there isn't a medical problem that can/should be treated.

Set a time limit to your eating. Eg. have an alarm clock beside you when you are eating. When you have eaten let's say 20 minutes, the alarm rings and you discipline yourself to stop eating. Then, go out for a walk or exercise.
Exercise!

YES I think so. The only way out is to do a total detox - which will make you feel foul before fabulous. Then keeping to a new reduced eating regime is the real challenge.
If you're rich, go to one of the FX Mayr detox clinics in Austria.

The #1 hormone - because it can affect the production of all the other hormones - is insulin. Ask your doctor for a fasting insulin blood test . Ask for a copy of your results. 10 or higher is abnormal for an adult.

You can also ask for a glucose tolerance test to rule out low blood sugar - but get the 6-hour one (it is a pain, but it is the most sensitive to low blood sugar).

Your symptoms could be related to low blood sugar. Do you have a family history of diabetes? You may want to check out www.hufa.org, and click on the symptoms link to check yourself out.
