The church believes that all we can do is entrust the care of their souls to our merciful God. No one really knows how this works.
The problem is one of original sin.
Everyone born is born with the stain of original sin, which they inherit from Adam and Eve.
Baptism eliminates original sin and makes one an adopted child of God and a co-heir with Jesus Christ.
One who dies without the benefit of baptism has neither been adopted into God's family or cleansed of sin.
An infant certainly bears no personal guilt for this, but the problem remains.

Baptism is part of a religion, which is all well and good if you are part of that religion yourself then you obviously try and get your kids into it too. Years ago it was impossible to be buried in Hallowed ground (the Churchyard) and as cremation didn't exist the only alternative for burial was within 'unhallowed or unblessed ground'. In those days religion dominated society and kept hold on people's behaviour with the 'fear and guilt' if you did not toe the line - hence people believed that if you were not baptised you would go to hell or whereever and possibly your soul would be in limbo if not buried in blessed ground. It is strange that this fear is still held by many people who have a Christening for their children, but do not attend church regularly and, if pushed for an answer most of them do not really believe in that religion per se!

In my view, being unbaptised can cause a crisis of faith in adulthood. My two daughters belong to no religion. Their father was Anglican and mother Moslem, so didn't bother with having the kids join any. Now, at 33 yrs old, one daughter feels she doesn't "belong" anywhere. She's searched and studied many faiths - Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism. She finds some spiritual comfort in meditation, psychic healing and other "New Age" religious practices. But she is still very much a lost soul.
So, yes. you could say she is a kid that ended up in limbo, then went to hell when she suffered spiritual emptiness followed by clinical depression.

Children are born without sin and therefore go to heaven, most churchyards in the UK do have a plot of land for unbaptised children to be buried in. I also have had friends who have had a child who has passed away christened after his passing. The church is supposed to support people through difficult times if your story is true the priest is a ********

My child is unbaptised and untrained in any organized religious practice. She is one of the best-behaved teens around. Do you really think that failure of her parents to sprinkle holy water on her would affect what happens to her soul?
I am an atheist but..just suppose.. I am wrong. Should the sins of the mother fall on the child and ruin her opportunity for a heaven that she didn't know even existed? Innocence is just that....innocent. So why would she be punished?
You really have to start thinking and challenging what you are taught. I suppose this question is a good beginning.

Everyone goes to heaven, heaven is a place where you meet up with like minded individuals at the same level of spiritual development, hence heaven is a very individual experience.
Kids, baptised or not go to heaven to grow and mature.
The Christian religion is one of the more aggressive religions of the world, conveniently forgetting the Budhists, Hindu's, Taoists, Muslims and all the other religions in the world. What sheer arrogance to assert only they are right and the rest of the world is wrong.
To help put your mind at rest, I give you a quote by a very famous spirit guide called silver birch, a one time Native American Red Indian.
"THERE ARE MANY PATHWAYS LEADING TO THE KINGDOM OF GOD, IT IS FOR THE INDIVIDUAL TO CHOOSE WHICH THEY FIND THE MOST COMFORTABLE TO WALK ON".
God bless
Love and light

I believe all children go to Heaven automatically, because they haven't reached the age of accountability. I don't think any child under the age of about ten could go anywhere else, though there are some really evil children. Unless they've done something really WRONG like purposely killed another human being, or killed an animal for sport (like a cat, or a dog, for example), they would go to heaven.

Souls are arriving and leaving at various times, some are leaving the body sooner, rather then later, it is all part of a broader design for that individual soul to develop. It is accredited to previous activity, the intricacies of which are very hard to understand. With material vision, it is natural to view such early departures in a sentimental way, that is a manifestation of an individuals goodness, but the supreme controller knows the broad history of each of us and acts accordingly, for our betterment, even though it does not appear so with our limited vision.

The Bible says that there will be a day of Judgement and when we die we will stand before him and give an account of every thought word and deed. The BIble says that when we die we will not simly hang in Limbo betwen heaven and Hell (purgatory), but the Bile says if we stand before God and we have broken His Law (Ten Commandments), by Lying or stealing, looking with lust, etc, then we will stand before HIm guilty and if he gives us Justice according to our sin, we wil end up losing our souls in Hell Forever. This cannot be changed by baptism, this cannot be change by going to a preist five times a week nor by any works. the Bible tells us "for it is by faith you are saved, not by works lest any man should boast". Jesus christ when he came and died suffered on the cross to pay the penalty for all of our sins, pas, present and futre. If you and I repent (turn from sin) and put our faith and trust in Jesus alone, the Bible tells us that God will grant us forgiveness and eternal life. Eternal life comes by trusting Him who paid it all.

I trust God will give everyone the chance to go to Heaven, no matter how brief their lives. God wants every human being that has ever lived or ever will live to be with Him, but He does not take away our freedom to say "no." The world to come can only be populated by those loyal to Him because of the tasks ahead for us then, to faithfully represent God in the New Creaton.
