Everyone has warned me to, "Just wait!" until this stage. Well I think it has arrived with my oldest. The eyes are rolling and I'm just not as smart as I used to be (she knows everything). How do you deal with your 'little angel' that used to cuddle with you now putting you at arms legnth? Lol, how do you not ground him/ her for life?

I am a teenage girl (18) so I must tell you that the most important thing is to let your daughter know how much you love her and that all the boundaries you set are for her own good, because you have more experience than her. Is also important to let her know that you know she has grown up and you trust her but people are the same (good or bad )no matter if we live in the '70 or 2006 and she will have similar experiences as yours some good and some bad of which you want to protect her.

The best I could do was just take a deep breath and wait before I reacted to anything! It takes patience. I raised four teenage daughters...I think they nearly drove me crazy. They will push any boundary they can. So you just need to be patient and consistent with them. Realize that they're not criticizing you but instead really exploring a lot of things and growing up. Don't criticize if you can at all help it and make sure you listen as much as possible.

Um...grounding works lol! When they push it too far, taking away privileges usually worked with mine!

Think back at when you were at this age. They are confused about their rapid growth and new emotions and feelings. They might feel like they know everything but they don't. It's your job to stick your ground with everything you say persistance is the key. Set rules (curfews, phone calls no later than 11:00 pm , and always make sure you know where they are on the weekends) Let them know you understand the stress of being that age because they are too old to play with barbies but too young to drive. Let them know you understand that it's difficult but you still their mom.

I'm going through it with my oldest son, he knows more than anyone in this world, yet he is always getting into trouble with our local police dept....he's been in jail several times and bootcampand jevenile, which now, he is facing the grand jurywithin a few weeks,so now he will more than likely be sent to prison soon.....I pray that your daughter doesn't have to go that far to see the light.......

rofl , just remember grounding punishes you much more then it does her at this age. choose your battles wisely. you'll get thru this just fine - with all your hair and sanity if you remember one thing: you probally did this to your mama too.
