i agree its rather offputting... like spending the day surrounded by hams in a butcher's window.
I dont have a repulsion to big ladies, just big women who let it all hang loose.

First of all, the people on this list who feel the need to answer in a rude way have probably never been over-weight. I myself am overweight and I am considered to be a trendy dresser. However, I understand how hard it is for plus size women to find clothes that fit, especially younger women (I'm 19). Trendy plus size clothing can be very expensive (90$ for a simple dress at Lane Bryant), and not everyone has the financial or geographical access to it. Next time you are out shopping, go take a look in the plus size section and ask yourself whether or not you would be willing to wear something that belongs on a ninety year old. You also made a reference to the short shirts, and I can honestly say that I am tired of them on everybody. However, clothing stores feel the need to produce more of them, not taking into acount that maybe us larger women would like a longer cut.
P.S. For those who will probably ask "Why don't you just lose weight?" or try to cut me down with a witty remark, just remember, you don't know a thing until you have walked a mile in someone else's shoes. Oh yeah, you may also want to look at the Set-Point Theory of weight.

Could be many things, some big ppl think thier not as big as they are, some buy clothes in a size they fit in months or years ago becasue they feel going up 2-3 sizes means defeat. They still wanna be sexy/appealing, and wearing baggy clothes is not flattering ( neither is tight), which all leads to the same answer, they cannot face the truth of thier size, it would mean getting serious about a sollution. They have some nice clothes for big people, i've seen some big people in nice, properly fitten clothing, with make-up, jewlery etc or in a mans case, clothes, haircut etc.I say If you can't or won't loose the weight, invest in a nice wardrobe, haircut, accessories and look your best. and saying GROSS...............Wont help thier self esteme, why dont you just walk over and kick them and pull thier hair?

The main reason is probably that the current fashion trend is for women to wear tight clothing. Good for 20-year-old thin women, bad for older, not-so-thin women. However, because of this trend, I buy some of my clothes a size or two larger than my regular size. Many women don't like to do this because buying a larger size is depressing.
Or, they could truly believe they look fine. Denial is not just a river in Egypt.

Well, the answer should be to have a dress code. I know wehrre I work we cannot wear things that are too low cut or too tightly revealing. So maybe you could speak to your supervisor about a dress code.
I agree that the trend is small, tight, and short and on many it looks good, but I do know what you mean I see it with our customers too but I feel bad for them, they are trying to stay in with the newest styles. I think they want to be stylish but do not realize some things do not look good on certain people.
Just give them your empathy.

they think they look good.
and they wish they could fit into those clothes.
plus, they may not have a lot of money to buy new clothes that fit right.
also, another reason is that many woman dont like to buy what they're actual size is and face that facts. they'd rather be unconfortable and think they can wear a size 10 when they're really a size 14.
whatever makes em happy.

till your boss comprises you and tells you your outfits is inapproriate, i does no longer do a piece. And if this happens, then ask what's approriate dresses. as far because of the fact the glasses circulate it quite is merely insane. you have each and every good to positioned on your contacts. If you notice, this is the new fashion trend. Everywhere you look, you see people wearing clothing that is too small and absolutely too revealing for their body....whether or not they're skinny or fat.
I hate fashion trends, lol, I'm always a couple trends behind.

You should challenge the dress code at your office. I know I would get sent home if I wore what you are describing--skinny or fat!
That is the best non-confrontational way to approach the situation.

Because they try to avoid the fact that they need bigger cloths, and as long as they could fit into the smaller sized cloths, they are not really that fat after all....but the obvious fact is, you and I know better!
