What about a religion that loves suicide bombers and treats religiously motivated murders as almost a sacrament. Should that religion get protections under the First Amendment?

I wouldn't feel safe if it made a comeback:) Mexico is such a wonderfully Catholic country, let it stay that way! And no, if it did, human sacrifice would still have to be banned. India bans widow sacrifice (suttee);some people still try to do it, but it's illegal.
But seriously, recent research shows that what you term "Aztec religion" was only the practice of the royal court and their clique. It was never the people's religion. Human sacrifice was only a form of terrorizing all enemies into submission, all wrapped in a religious overcoat...

The Aztecs that preformed 2000 human sacrifices over a four DAY period were virturally anniliated by the Spanish invasion starting in 1519. Seems Spainish genocide trumps Aztec sacrifice.
