I am so sorry for your loss of your best friend. I am assuming he is not lost, but passed. You do have to grieve. Only animal lovers can understand this. Your little cat is waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge.
A poem for all who have lost a loved one: Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: They miss someone very special to them; who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. YOU have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together...

I am so sorry to hear that. I've been through a bad patch lately with pets, lost 3 in 10 months, I'm still in shock (all were old, only one was sick that I knew of).
First you need to grieve. Cry as much as you want to or need to. Don't let anyone say it was just a cat and who cares? YOU care, it was YOUR cat and you cry and be sad if that's what you need to do to honor your kitty.
I will tell you to get another cat, for several reasons. You already love cats. You miss your cat. One cat can't replace another, but it can help heal the hole in your heart. There are so many unwanted pets in this world and it would honor your cat's spirit to take on another cat, or even a pair (I like to keep my pets in pairs so they don't get lonely when I'm not home).

Your cat is a metaphor for your social life. I don't know how you treated your cat ...but if you loved your cat and didn't treat it right...then you drove it away. If you treated the kitty cat with love and respect then ...it may be unable to get home or it may return to you when it finds that you were the best relationship it could have and there is nothing better out there. What is important is what you do with your time ...until the cat either returns or until you find a new cat. Maybe you should get therapy....

I'm very sorry for your loss. I know it seems like you'll never find another cat as wonderful as Grizz, but in time you will be able to. Until you are ready to think about sharing your life again, are you in a position to volunteer at an animal shelter? Perhaps you could "foster" a cat in your home.
When my beloved MH died, I knew there would never be another cat like him. When I was finally ready for the sound of cat feet, I ended up getting two cats. That way neither of them has to live up to what he meant to me. Remember:

get yourself a dog that way you can take it walking with you as company and allow yourself an oppurtunity to get out and meet other people. When I think of the four legged friends that I have buried over the years they all have been my greatest friends and even the memories of their adventures are amongst treasured memories. There are so many dogs and cats discarded each year that there is allways a need for people who can supply a good home for some lost furry soul.

I lost my beloved cat Bobby June 22nd. He was 16 years old. He took his last 2 breaths in my arms. It is still very painful but we have to go on. We have to endure cause that is all that we can do and one day we will be with them again. I really do believe that. If you had a bond as strong as I did with my Bobby just think of how much the cat loved you and would want you to go on and be happy again.

Find new bestfriend, humans are more affectionate and live longer than animals!Don't just stay at home do something that entertains you! Talk to your closefriends and to your family, you still have a lot of happiness for you ahead! What you felt is just normal!

Go to your town/city's shelter....and spends some time looking at cats...maybe you might be able to help another kitty....usually cats can find their way home...I don't know how long you had it.....but sometimes animals can sense their own death and they will run off to die somewhere else....just because they don't want to pain you. I am sooooo sorry that you lost him....I don't know if you mean to death or just lost somewhere else....but if you think he is somewhere lost...put up some papers and ask people if they have seen your cat...you might be able to find him/her that way. again...I am sorry if he/her died. I hope you can another pet who can use your love to have a life of his/her own from cruel people who take them and end up abandoning them or abuse them.
