I am a Christian, but I am not particularly religious. The term religion encompasses many things. It always seem s to me that the people who are aggitated by Christianity always associate it solely as religion. Are there other out there that understand my feelings on this subject and agree or have wondered this same thing?

This train of thought is why there are so many non-denominational churches on the rise. Many people do consider themselves Christian but do not hold to the teachings of the different denominations.

That is the whole point, that's what they are doing now on this site. Almost every question that I have seen dealing with christianity on this site is someone, whether atheist, agnostic, or just plain mad argues with or complains about the Christians.

To the two ladies who answered about planting the seeds thank you for the in site. I needed to hear that as I was becoming disillusioned with this site. That really answers my question, Jesus did say that he did not come to heal the believers, that he came to heal the non-believers. Thanks again for the words of wisdom.

I wouldn't want it to be separated.

These are the times when Chirstianity should be present as much as possible.

In my opinion, these boards are great for the spreading of the word. I'll bet that most of the people that are atheist wouldn't give us 5 minutes in person, while they'll go hours and hours on the subject using the computer.

Don't forget, you are not only responding to the question so that the asker can see it, but you are also showing those that read the responses. The asker may have already made up his or her mind about the answer, but some out there might not have. They are the one's we preach to. They are the one's who may really be seeking an answer to the truth.

I fully understand your question, but as a Christian, we have the perfect opportunity here to let it be known that being a Christian is faith-based personal relationship with Jesus Christ and is not a religion. So, I would hate to see the two divided - I'd have to sneak back into this one all the time and then they'd want to throw me all the time. We have few forums that allow us the freedom of truly sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and sometimes it does seem repetitive and can be even frustrating to see the same questions for the umthousandth time - but Jesus didn't mind answering over and over and over, so I've learned that as different ones ask, I owe them the same patience Christ has shown me and just maybe one time that I write the same answer again, it will be the one time it truly makes a difference in the life of someone. So don't get discouraged. We make a difference, we plant seeds and it's pretty obvious we need to do a lot of seed planting!!

Why should one be agitated because of some body's religious beliefs? Christianity, which withstood the test of time, cannot be brushed away. I am a critic of christian church, for being very dogmatic. No religion can claim monopoly of God and spirituality. But, there is no gainsaying the fact that the message of love and sacrifice preached by Jesus and the yeomen service rendered by the missionaries in the poor countries and in the communities within the developed nations cannot lost sight of. Cutting across the religious differences, Jesus Christ is the embodiment of compassion and kindness for the less privileged. That is the reason why many among them are attracted to him. My submission is that let there be no difference of religion coming in the way of following the path of love.

Subcategorising things doesn't change the probability of people writing inflammatory answers or provocative questions or ranting in general.

As an example, exactly the same thing happens in Science & Mathematics subcategories Biology and Zoology where a lot of questions are posted by creationists not interested in scientific explanations and almost all legitimate questions about evolutionary biology get hidden under a mass of creationist answers.

I'm not coming from your viewpoint, but on the basis of the above, from a practical point of view I have to disagree.

People like Mother Teresa, Gandhi, Einstein..... did for the good cause, lived a true and noble life with charity at heart and virtues in their souls - rest we all keep questioning without being interested / bothering the answers. Once we have the answers we go on to the next question and then the next - we just want to show and behave religious and spiritual. If you see the history - all religious and spiritual men have seeked it from within. Who can solve your problems your behaviour and attitude towards other except for your own self and realisations. You just have to be sensitive - that's all. If you see around yourself there are so many answers without questions. Just live and help others to live and struggle or keep on questioning your whole life and entangled with answers from others people point of view and miss the whole truth.

True librarians would go on categorising things ad infinitum (and often to the point of absurdity). Judging by the way that most people 'categorise' their questions, I see little point in adding complexity for the sake of it.

If one were to have a 'Christian Belief' category it would be politically incorrect not to have a category for, at least, most of the other major religions. Since many of the questions seek to compare two or more religions (often to the detriment of one), it would seem unnecessarily divisive to make separate categories.

What would you do with the poor atheists and agnostics who belong to no religion?

Hi!

I support your point 100%...because we Children of God need to ask Christians who are born of the Spirit certain questions.

Certain questions need a Spirit-filled person who knows the Lord...but unfortunately some people call themselves Christians while they do not have a drop of the anointing of the Holy Spirit, give irrelevant, carnal and worldly answers to questions asked to Christians!

I think it would be a good idea for Y!Answers to create a "Christian" tab for true Christians.

I pray that those who are affected by this message will not be offended but seek know Christ and the Holy Spirit will confirm this to them.

Hug!

Next thing you'll want the xtian category to be able to control who can post what in all categories.... Will there be a YA! crusade? Missions to the other categories? Save the Children of Other Categories Fund? Where does it end?

xtian posts are no better of different than the rest or the posts in the category. So why should they be treated special?

I think that if the Bible says we should be in the world and not of it, then we should not be separated. Yes, if we want to fellowship. that is one thing, but I started coming on this site to speak the Truth, and if I am with other believers, then I cannot achieve that. It is not those who are well who need a doctor, but the sick, right?Jesus said, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. But go and learn what this means, 'I desire mercy and not sacrifice.' For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance" (Matthew 9:12-13). Jesus was talking to the religious teachers of his day, who thought that because of their religious practices they deserved eternal life. They thought that they were healthy. Jesus told them that he would save only those who admit that they are diseased with sin. If you refuse to accept his diagnosis, sadly, you must face the consequences.
