If you are worried, speak to your vet. Don't go changing his food as you will just upset his stomach, he is bound to be unsettled, and with care and patience will adjust to his new surroundings, it will just take time, as long as he is drinking he will be fine for up to a week without eating properly, he will eat when he wants to. Good luck.

Probably a bit of both. Our dogs are not eating much right now. The dog's also probably settling down. Take him out for a long walk when it cools down in the evening to give him an appetite. If our dogs are anything to go by, he'll go mad for some cold chicken, ham or bacon (as a treat - not as a normal meal!).
Years ago we got cats (not dogs I know!) and they hid for several weeks before coming out for a decent meal.

You'll proberly find it's both, he's missing his previous owner and the heat doesn't help. My dog has been off his food the past couple of weeks but has taken to chewing everything else in the house, including the wall paper off the walls. I wouldn't worry too much

He just may not be as hungry. Are you excersizing him? Don't leave the bowl out for him all day. Put it down 2x a day, for 5 min. He'll learn to eat it all then or he has to wait. If he walks away from it, pick it up and wait till next time. I don't know anything about the personality of your dog, but he could be testing you to see if you are worthy of being his leader.

it's probably both. Like us animals loose their appetite when it is hot. Is he still drinking water? If he is not drinking water get him to a vet straight away. If it goes on for more than a couple of days then talk to a vet. You could try a bit of boiled chicken or boiled rice and see if he eats that. If he has got an upset tummy this is bland enough no to make it worse. If you have any doubts talk to a vet.

my dog isn't eating because of the heat your dog is probably suffering with the heat as long as he is drinking water i wouldn't worry too much. he might be pining for your friend as well, have you got a blanket or a jumper with your friends scent on it? it could help comfort your dog, the most important thing is not to lose patience with your dog - if he was really hungry he would eat

Could be the heat or that he has not yet settled in. Try giving him one of your slippers in his sleeping place this may help him bond with you. It is early days for him.
Don't give him anything to eat just now, but do give him plenty of water to drink. He will let you know when he is hungry have no fear.
Lots of cuddles and fun times.

could be either one. as for if it's the heat, like people, animals prefer cool water on hot days (as opposed to water left out that has warmed up). try offering him colder water. or maybe put ice cubes in it.
if it's him settling into his new environment, give him treats, lots of attention, and you could try pouring some dog gravy sauce over his dry food. when i worked at a kennel, sometimes dogs would stop eating after their owners left. we would see if they started eating on their own after a few mealtimes. if they haven't eaten after a couple days, we would pour gravy over the dry food and that usually did the trick. and for dogs that missed their owners, we gave them lots of attention and treats. before long, they would run to us next time they needed to stay at the kennel. :)

probably both, try holding the bowl up for him as dogs don't like bending in the heat. My dogs not eating at the moment, due to the heat so don't worry too much.

Yes, he could be pining, but also our dog is not eating so well either, I put it down to the hot weather (He does have a nibble, but only when it's late at night ,that's when it's cooler)
