He doesn't feel that he is old enough to get all of the doodie off by himself. I think he will be ready to learn to wipe by himself when he starts high school. I'm hoping they'll teach him the proper way to wipe his no no place in health. When do you think I should stop?

Since you are not asking a serious question, but rather just playing with Y answers; I'll give a fitting answer.

DON'T STOP - keep doing it until one of you is disabled. When your child gets married, maybe the spouse will need help too. And just think, when ou apply for your next job - you will have this exciting unique skill to place on your resume.

And also - you can ask your school board to add this into the high school curriculum. Maybe it is the job of the high School to make sure every High School graduate has certain life skills.

Maybe you should also bathe your child. The child may not know how to wash correctly.

JUST WOMDERING: What nickname do his/her friends call him/her? What does your child dress as, for costume parties?
--- A DIRTY BUM?

Unless your child has a mental incapacity or a severe and profound physical challenge, he should have been wiping and washing himself since learning to use the toilet alone. He should have mastered this developmental task by the age of 4. It is YOUR responsibility to teach your son to wash his body and to manage his personal cleanliness, not that of the school. I can hardly believe you are seriously asking a question like this about a 13 year old adolescent!! Are you?

You should have stopped when he was two or three.

It is not the schools responsibility to teach these basic life skills, but the parents.

If this is because he has an impairment then he may need to be wiped for the rest of his life, however if it is just because he's lazy then snap out of it and insist he does it himself from now on.

If you are really concerned run a search on Yahoo or other search engine, you will be able to strategies and techniques to teach him to do it himslef. One of the techniques I have used with children with Autism to get them to wipe dusty objects (mirror, vase, etc) which I've placed behind them - they need to do that with looking.

I AM 14 AND GOING INTO 9TH GRADE IN 1.5 WEEKS. IF I DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO WIPE MYSELF I WOULD BE THE LAUGHING STOCK OF THE WHOLE SCHOOL. Noe you MUST get him to do it himself b/c they WILL NOT teach him, and he is bound to tell someone he can't wipe himself, and rumors spread like wildfire in High School. Tell you what if you can't get him to do it himself and he has to go during school, who is he going to ask? A teacher, a girl, a boy? The ridicle alone would cause a syocitc brake! You need to get him away from your help. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE WHEN HE GOT OUT OF DIPARES! Contact me if you need any ridicule insight. I am 14 and know all about rumors and ridicule.

Stop doing that immediately. You are in fact depriving him of an important step to independency. If he doesn't want to learn that the nice way have him learn it the hard and stinky way and do criticize how bad he smells when he hasn't wiped good enough. But please don't make room for another inept moron. It must hurt you that I call him such and that you actually think such of him. Though do tell him that he is nothing short from moronic.

Wet wipes could prove simple and efficient.

Don't stop because it will permanently scar him for life. Should keep continuing with wiping him until he is positively ready to be able to wipe himself on his own. Not sure on how long that may be, but you must be very patient and keep waiting until one day when he is perfectly ready to be able to do it. Remember, keep wiping until he can wipe himself.

About 8 years ago. Maybe you need to get him some moist wipes. This way there is only a win win situation.

YOU-AS THE PARENT- SHOULD HAVE STOPPED THIS WHEN HE WAS 5YR. WHEN HE WAS IN KINDERGARTEN!!! WHAT DID HE DO WHEN HE STARTED GRADE SCHOOL??

DONT UNDERSTAND PARENTS THAT DONT TEACH THEIR KIDS PROPER HYGIENE(PROPER WAY OF STAYING HEALTHY AND CLEAN)!!!!

SOMEONE ELSE SHOULD NOT TEACH YOUR CHILD THIS: YOU AS THE PARENT NEED TO DO THIS AT HOME!!!!!

YOU DID TEACH HIM TO EAT ON HIS OWN, BRUSH HIS TEETH ON HIS OWN!!! WHY NOT THIS???
DID YOU EVEN TEACH HIM HOW TO KEEP CLEAN BY TAKING A BATH BY HIMSELF!!!???

A CHILD CAN NOT "MAKE" A PARENT DO THIS, THE PARENT DIDNT WANT TO BE A PARENT!!!! WHY DID YOU EVEN HAVE A KID, IF YOU DONT WANT TO TEACH HIM THINGS LIKE THIS. THIS IS CALLED PARENTING, WHY DIDNT YOU GET A PARENTING BOOK OR TAKE PARENTING CLASSES??? IF YOU DIDNT KNOW THIS??

right now, I'm sorry, but it's already too late. You need to tell him honestly that he's already old enough to do that himself. I'm sure that he would wanna start going out soon, who's gonna wipe him then?

that's sick. you should be afraid that someone will call child protective services on you. high school will not teach him to wipe his butt. if you did not teach him that at age 3 or 4 then you have failed as a parent!

Well, this is something you have to do immediately, because if you continue to do this to him he will get use to it and it will be a problem for him and you.So to solve this problem you have to stop right away, make it a habit to let him do things by himself. Now this may take a while but you have to do it.This is the only way...Trust me.From now do not wait untill it's to late.
