I previously had this question removed because of a small additional phrase which was deemed insulting. In fact, the phrase undermined the seriousness of my question and it is better without.
I believe that Creationism is untrue. I also think that its advocates employ the crude but effective devise of accusing evolutionists of doing exactly what they do - such as selectively interpreting or even surpressing scientific evidence.
Evolution theory is the result of years of research, and does not in any way oppose any conception of God, other than literal interpretation of scripture.
I urge anyone who feels uneducated about the theory of evolution to read, for example, The Blind Watchmaker by Richard Dawkins. This book opened my eyes to the true complexity and logic of evolution theory and made me see the evolution of, say, the human eye, is not only conceivable but probable - and deeply astonishing.

No. That is a very high estimate.

Why can't the evolutionists and creationists co-exist? It makes perfect sense to me that WHATEVER you believe (a 'big bang' simply made all this come together as sheer coincidence; God created the world in 7 days; Nature made it happen) can be the result of both theories.

First of all, we're limited because our minuscule little brains can't conceive of the idea that there was no "beginning" (and there will be no "end").

But aside from that, even if the universe DID "begin" billions of years ago, why is it so hard to wrap our logic around the theory that the 'big bang' did, indeed, take place. From there, the whole process began as water and air made it possible for tadpoles and birds to originate. Eventually, over millions of years, fish be-came prevalent in the seas, and some birds turned into land animals that walked the Earth. Those animals evolved into the dinosaurs and ancient apes, which - in turn - evolved into the species we call homosapiens. At one time, then, "God" (or the evolutionary process, or Nature, or an intelligent designer) 'created' man (Adam and Eve). And just because the King James version of the Bible only mentions these two people, it's very possible that "God" created other human beings at the same time. These "societies' eventually traveled to other lands, breeding with each other and creating the array of races we have today.

It seems that evolutionists take science too seriously and the creationists take the Bible too literally.

I truly believe "creation" was an evolutionary process that may have taken billions of years to get to the point where we are today. The problem is, we're too arrogant, egotistical, and full of ourselves to accept the fact there are some things we'll never know while we live on this third rock from the sun.

Perhaps when we die we'll enter a new dimension and gain enough enlightenment that we'll be able to understand all this; for now, we're really not as intelligent as we'd like to presume.

So believe what you want to believe and take your chances.
The business of organized religion has built its power base on gullible people who fear the unknown after life. The business of science has built its power base on pure facts with no room for faith or speculation. Both idealism come from our tiny little brains that are not even capable of imagining the grandeur of the universe. -RKO-

80%? that sounds horrible what the propadanda can do. I would ask how many of biologists areamong them and what is the RELATION BETWEEN PERCENTAGE OF CREATIONISTS and level of KNOWLEDGE OF BIOLOGY: from no at all /elementary /secondary /college /college graduate/ PhD/ higher

biology would make no sense at all without evolution, because unless you are really ignorant you see the evolution in every part of nature. living organisms are not robots that remain the same - that would be not only impractical, but also quite impossible, especially in the long term.

For introduction in evolution - how bout reading Darwin himself - better for beginners for many reasons. or his biographies

the creationists should
1. know that Darwin believed in God and had no problem with that
2. remember that people once were executed (where were the 10 commandments?) by clergy for saying that Earth goes round the Sun and what we see now with creationists is pretty the same. Once it was required of Christians to hold that Earth is not going round the Sun, now it is that organisms dont evolve is in the centre of attention. you attach some level of understanding of the natural world with something from Bible and when the understanding changes, you refuse the change because you get the idea it is somehow against the Bible. luckily the clergy cannot execute anybody for saying that organisms actually change and that humans are here for millions of years, but are much younger than bacteria.

3. comment only theories from their field of expertize. like i am a biologist and i dont make any attempts to comment criticically nuclear physics/astronomy theories, however strange they may feel to me, BECAUSE I DONT UNDERSTAND nuclear physics that much so that my opinion is valid, I just had physics lessons at school, ok

Ron, i perfectly agree with you

With any kind of brain power you can see the truth, its all around us,you just need to do is open your eyes.Everything here is connected.Like we humans need the sun like plants for one.Baptized catholic,an abuse by catholics,my adult conclusion is,its all about control of the masses.Like the government and states followed suit too.Little minds can be manipulated and controlled. As for their religion, they slaughtered more beings then any other cause of human death,In his name of course. Now I say you poor ignorant indoctrinated *******,if you could only see the truth. As I say a indoctrinated mind is a damaged mind.I search for facts and the truth. Not babble from a bunch of stone throwers, and if your God does exists,he's a alien then.

No. Over the past 20 years, poll numbers in the US routinely indicate about 45% are creationists, with 50% believing in evolution of some kind, and 5% undecided.

80% is probably high and I dont know the actual break down.
I personally am a creationist and will gladly advise you as to why your theories of macro evolution are wrong. It would take some typing though. And yes I have studied the issue from
a perspective that might surprise you.

of path no longer because of the fact it relies upon the place you ask the question and doing so interior the bible belt could probable provide a one hundred% answer! Surveys advise that 29% of yankee christians are so extremist of their ideals that they fall properly exterior of the customary bounds of christianity! you will get somewhat closer the reality once you examine the evidence against the claims for extensive christian numbers! The church homes very own figures coach basically 28% ever attend church in a year. certainly if 28% ever tried to attend church on the comparable day, even working shifts, there is merely no longer sufficient church homes! yet count variety the bars - in many places there is extra room interior the bars than the church homes! count variety all the seats in each and every church in a city and evaluate that to the inhabitants and that's extremely no longer at risk of attain even 5%! that's authentic good interior the path of the bible belt and in Salt Lake city!
