I remember when i was a kid in Chicago, Standing and Saluting, being very proud i am an American at a Television sign off. I know with Dish and Cable, is it not played because the programs go to so many foreign countries? John Wayne also was one reason i joined the US Marine Corps, (Patriotism) the other was my cousin who said i wouldn't make it, Ha!,Ten Years active 1961-1971. The Corps did a lot for me and you grow up being proud of your Country (USA) and who you are!!!!!

It seems that the send us your tired, weak and poor, sign has been replaced with "Anything for Sale" Everytime I turn around I am hearing about some foriegn company buying the majority of the rights to one station or another. And we live in a POP culture world, where things change all the time, I guess that is why most Americans took their flags down only 6 months after 9-11. There are also a lot of people complaining about the playing of the National Anthem cause of the mention of God in it. While I don't believe in God, I don't think that is a reason to change or remove the song.

It is a shame that Americans don't know the National Anthem unless they are from a military background or they watch a lot of baseball. One person can kick a fuss about prayer in school or the citing of the Pledge of Allegience and have these removed from our school systems where the next generation hardly even knows what they're about, and the sad thing is, we set back and let it happen. What really ticks me off is when people are disrespecting our nation by being on the cell phone during the National Anthem and during prayer at your local events.

It seems like there is so little respect for the things that once seemed so important to this country. A lot of people think the Pledge Of Allegiance is wrong, and Our National Anthem shouldn't be sung because it offends some people. I try not to let it get to me, and my husband and I continue to teach our young children to respect the flag, respect our Military, and ALWAYS STAND FOR THE NATIONAL ANTHEM! We are stationed in Italy, and if we are on the base early in the morning for an appointment, we stand there while the raise the American flag and play our anthem, and then continue to stand while they raise the Italian flag and play their anthem. I'll just never get tired of hearing that!

The only places you ever really hear it anymore is on military bases. I dont know about the other branches but the AF plays revielle, retreat, and taps Mon-Fri.

The only thing that tees me off about that is it is custom to stop and salute, stand at attention, or stop driving when the national anthem comes on. Well some people do and others are just in a hurry and dont bother to stop for it. Also I hate when people know its about to come over the loud speakers people act like roaches. You can just see all of them taking off running for shelter.

Man Im getting ready to switch over to the Army I hope they arent like that.

Respect for the US National Anthem must not be disregarded because it is love of country. TV shows and any other public celebrations should always play the National Anthem before the commencement and sign off on TV.

It's because tv stations no longer sign off at the end of the day. They have 24 hour programming. After regular programs run, they run infomerrcials and the like. So they never stop broadcasting.

the liberals and the A.C.L.U. and the anti americans out there who want attention, have tried to destroy everything that was once so nobel about this country. It is an insult to me and every other good American everytime one of them comes forth and spews more of their ignorant folly and shoves their american hating views down our throats with a crooked lawyer, who by the way are allways at the root of it, making money and destroying us in the process.. makes me very angry....God Bless America

i will be proud if we stop attacking helpless countries in search of power, oil & money.

i will be proud if our president dont use our army to achieve his business plans not the good of our country.

i will be proud if being american gives respect between the nations of the world not hatred.

i will be proud if my strong country plays the rule of the big brother and solves conflicts not the opposite

this will make me proud not playing the national anthem

It is a shame that they don't play it any more. Oh, the colors are still presented before the beginning of sporting events, but with the exception of REALLY special events (i.e.-the Superbowl and the All-Star Game), NASCAR racing events are the only sport that I know of that televises it every time.
