I've been doing this a lot lately, as I've gotten about 2 hours of sleep a night, but here's what I do: I get up at around five o'clock in the morning and busy myself with work. Then, once there's no chance I'll go back to sleep, I have a healthy breakfast. To keep up my energy, I have protein or sugar (though I don't recommend the latter) to give me that little boost.

LOL this happens to me most during a worknight/day. I usually rely on caffeine if I didn't get enough sleep, or if I have the day off, I'll usually fall asleep on the floor...

Without caffeine I can get a good rest, but I never quite feel awake. With caffeine I only get about 3 hours of sleep, but I blaze through the day. Oddly, I hardly remember days that are fueled by caffeine. It's like a sort of drug I guess, but a not-so-addictive one.

Lots and lots of coffee. Make sure to have a light, healthy breakfast. And this may sound weird, but some mornings if I'm really dragging, I'll put on a funny movie I like in the background while I'm getting prepared for the day. It usually helps to put a smile on my face and if I'm happy then I don't feel so tired.
