I work for the NHS (alas) I would reccommend that your first point of contact would be the NHS Direct Tel Number which is: 0845 46 47

If you have no luck with that call the Primary Care Trust for the area which in this case would be: -

Southport & Formby NHS PCT
5 Curzon Road, Southport, PR8 6LW
Tel: 01704 530940
Fax: 01704 387096
http://www.southportandformbypct.nhs.uk/

Speak to the people in public health they will be able to give you a list of Dentists who either have NHS Spaces or waiting lists !!!

However, if your in pain and need some emergency treatment you are able to go to emergency clinics which again details can be sought from the pct. If you dont get any luck let me know and i will speak to my boss who happens to be the North West Dental Advisor.... (for my sins)

Ring NHS Direct on 0845 46 47. They will let you have a list of dentists with available spaces. The nearest may not be in Southport, though!

I am sorry to dampen your spirits but...you'll be lucky. My dentist currently has a 800 person waiting list for new NHS patients.
Some Dentists offer a private initial consultation where you get any problems sorted by paying for them yourself, and then you can skip the waiting list.
A bit of a dodgy scam really but atleast you are registered.

hi. just make sure your dentist is aware you are pregnant before he starts treatment. if you do need a filling he will just put a temp. one in until after baby. i went at 26 weeks and had a temp one done and due to go back next week now to have my real one. he should check your gums too if you have had bleeding gums whilst pregnant and maybe give your corcodasol(think thats how u spell it!) i was really unlucky with bleeding gums whilst pregnant so he gave me that to make sure i didnt get an infection. make sure you go to the appointment though as if you are nhs you might loose your place if you dont go every 6 months. good luck!
