The God of our understanding is just that! Why ask why?Americans are no different than any other culture that believes in Christ. If you have written a guide to help us understand how you pray in your country, then by all means publish it so we can correct our ways to suit your needs.Mean-while we will continue to do things the way our spiritual leaders have suggested. We do not have any idea on how you do things,so we cannot compare.I am sure if you could hear all the prayers of all the people of all the world it would blow your mind!! Peace and Love!! And when we all get to Heaven look me up!God Bless you and yours.

Hi there,
you have a great question, and i really wonder the same, and yet i think that prayer, asking for what you want needs more specifics, and perhaps (my thougts) OUR HIGHER POWER needs more detail, time and not just "hey God, make me happy, or make my life better.. why should he help us communticate?
i want to be happy, or have more money, or find love, etc, i am begining to think that like anything in life, you need to approach it in a way that lets you ride your horse in the direction you are going..
Why can't we pray for eternal salvation, and wisdom on how to earn it,? AND why can't we pray to have wisdom to live the life we were given,, in a loving, enjoyable joyus way? i do not think it is greedy to want happiness while in our physical bodies, and pursue our goals, without suffering and pain, and yet, acknowledge the fact that this is so temporary, and quick, and that our true destiny desired is ETERNAL SALVATION..
and for the prayers answered at random, sometimes maybe we don't listen for the answer, or expect it in a form like "abra cadabra, " OR instant thunder, a geat sign,,, that is our expectations, but i know one thing, God, and Jesus don't have to answer to me,
Jesus already did more than his part for me, and it is up to me, to be worthy of whatewver i ask
good luck with your question..

lol in America things are trends. South Beach, Trimspa, Jenny Craig, Kaballah, Yoga, and now prayer.
Yes pray for eternal salvation, but people forget those things and pray for a new car; or a new house; when its their lives they need to pray for. There willingness to wake up to see another day.
Its about seeing past the mundane things that are tangible and get a hold fo the things unseen for those things are everlasting.

maybe you are being hypocritical. what right do you have to question another's prayer? when we pray to make life better, maybe it's not just that we pray for our lives to be better, but all lives. when someone prays, they are looking to a higher power. prayer is answered at random? how can you know this? prayer is personal. the right things are individual, and not for you or me to question.

Prayer is talking to God, simply put. Whatever you want to talk about, or ask for or whatever. The cool thing about God, he loves you and just wants to spend time with you. It says in the Bible that you are to come to God as a little child, so if you are trying to pray, according to what you think you should be praying about when you really just want to talk to your dad about stuff that is the desire of your heart. . . . well? I mean, really, don't you think that to the Maker of the Universe, it is all relative anyway? He just desires to commune with you, and wants you to desire to have a relationship with him too.

Its not for us to judge. You should pray for these people. Rememeber that the correct way to pray is with the spirit. This does not mean in tongues neither, it means that we allow the Spirit to show us what we should pray for.
