No, it's not a bad idea. I married a guy that had a lot of bad luck in his life, but getting married to him was the best thing ever!

There is no "bad luck". What happens is merely coincidence and/or sometimes, it is the result of poor decision-making. If you were to give us an example of what you mean by bad luck, what events you are referring to would be easier to understand and evaluate. If his personality is perfect and he is loyal, you would be very silly not to marry him if you love him, too.
